Yamaha YP-D8

Yamaha YP-D8

I am the original owner of this turntable and purchased it in 1978. For over 40 years this turntable has never ceased to amaze me in its accuracy and versatility. 40 years later it still looks as good as the day it was purchased and has been well maintained throughout its life. I suspect it will probably outlive me and I will end up leaving it along with my record collection to my son. The quality of the YP-D8 is so high that I have never felt the desire to own anything else. I did purchase a second turntable a couple of years later a YP-D71. Both of these models are complimentary in their performance and quality. All I can say is if you are fortunate enough to own one of these decks take care of it. It will reward you with many years of musical pleasure.

Got mine at a yard sale for $5! It has done well the last, wow 20 years I have had it! Just got done re capping it and some were starting to get bad, electrolytic caps that is. But it still performs well and with new lytics it should run farther then me!

Excellent turntable, almost as old as me ! I use it daily, paired with a Yamaha 7.1 digital receiver. It makes my 40+ years old vinyl sing (along with Ortofon) as well as my newer 180G pressings. I have had it almost 20 years and I bought it on eBay. Works and sounds great!

August 2014- Continue to be amazed with this turntable since buying it new in 1978. Just reset up the tone arm for a new Goldring 1012GX phono cartridge. Having access to the owners manual on this site was essential for proper setup. I first installed the Goldring about a year ago, but recently took the time for critical listening and was not happy with absence of proper high frequencies and muddy vocals. Found my problems were excessive overhang and excessive tonearm height. Once these were readjusted, my Dark Side of the Moon came back to life.

This turntable and tonearm have been setup for multiple cartridges over these past 26 years including ADC, Boston Acoustics, Stanton, Shure, Acutex, Audio Technica, Grado, and Ortofon. I can't thank the Yamaha engineers enough for this high performance musical instrument.
