Technics SL-2000

I followed Mike's instructions about adjusting motor. That was just what I needed to know. Now my 1977 SL-2000 is working like a champ. I have a SL-1800 also.

I did have a hard time aligning the cartridge on this turntable as its not the usual length of tonearm. After many hours of searching online, the best protractor I could find was the Kearns Universal Arc Protractor at 220mm. The cartridge is slightly offset. Hopefully this will help some of you who are having difficulty aligning the cartridge.

I love mine but very hard to find parts. I been looking for replacement hinges for a year so far.

This is the first turntable I ever had.It was given to me by my aunt in 1980 or so when I was 14 yrs old. I kept it until probably 1990 and after that it disappeared and I couldn't remember what I did with it. A month ago my cousin offered to give me his vinyl collection and of course I accepted it. When I went to his house, there it was. My beloved Technics SL2000 on his shelf. I couldn't believe my eyes and asked him about it and he told me to take it as well. Took it home fitted a Rega Carbon cartridge I had and it came to life. Now it sits next to my Rega P2 and even though it doesn't sound as refined it does a fantastic job. Easy to use and after 36 years it remains one nice turntable.

I have one of this beauty for 20 years and works very well. Since it well balanced, I can extract the best from this turntable. Quiet, accurately, no weakness for its performance. At this level of price, you won't find better.

I got this TT for next to nothing and it has been very good to me. It took me a while to get the speed pots cleaned and calibrate the pitch control to get it running perfectly but once it was up and running, it plays like any other Technics brand. The matte black finish is very sexy and nice to look at. The build quality however is on the cheaper end - most of the materials other than the tone arm and the platter is plastic and compressed sawdust. It is very light and sensitive to vibrations. For the right price, this TT will be a good addition.

Given by a friend. It was not operated for about 30 years! After a good dusting and general lub, works flawlessly and reminds me of my first table, the SL-D2.
Nothing to shout at performance but it works and a whole lot better than some DD tables out there.

A very robust deck and I have owned this deck from new and it has only just recently needed a minor adjustment on the speed regulation. Being an x semi pro DJ in the 70's and early 80's I wanted a no fuss deck that was all manual and this one fitted the purpose.
