Technics SL-1210GR
by tomstephens89
The Technics 1210 is somewhat of a legend, you can't deny that, perhaps originally not something that would get 'Audiophiles' hot and sweaty, but no doubt the standard for direct drive, build quality and reliability. A real workhorse deck.
The original 1200/1210 series ran 1972-2010 and saw a handful of different revisions. However now, and probably due to the renewed love for Vinyl we are experiencing, we have a new model. The 1200/1210GR!
First the highlights:
Real RCA + ground connections so I can use my own cables. Heavier & well damped platter 2.5KG Built like a tank Digitally controlled coreless motor Improved feet
My thoughts: This to me is the meat and potatoes of the turntable world. An updated 'Hi-Fi' conscious version of a turntable with 40 odd years of proven track record behind it. I partnered it with an Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge and all I can say is WOW.
Detail is there, bass is there, Enjoyment is there.
Fantastic turntable!
