Dual 1229Q

Dual 1229Q

10/10 by dmusicman

Great, great, great turntable. Couldn't be happier. I have had it for a few years now and is an amazing sounding machine. Just had it serviced for lube and tune and it is even quieter now than it was before. I thought it was very quiet prior to servicing but now it is even quieter. Didn't think that was possible. Built like a tank and delicate at the same time if that makes any sense... Highly recommend if you can get one. After forty years this thing still performs flawlessly.

To be clear from the start, the Q in the model number indicates this model as of quadraphonic design. That means it will play quadraphonic, CD-4, or 4 channel vinyl LPs.
I am currently debating whether to buy a 1229Q or not. From what I've read online so far, these tables are a very good entry level, upper low end table. They are very reliable and sound great for the cost. I've also read they are the best for quadraphonic LPs. They are also a great bang for the buck in the automatic turntable arena. They are noted to produce very good sound for being an automatic player.
Other than that, purchasing one second hand in the $200 - $300.00 dollar range is a good deal.
That's all for now.
