Re: Cartridges, styli, and confusion
Very early models had 2 motors, one would kick start the second one in the right direction.

No, you're obviously not missing a motor.

Is this after you wired both sides of your DPST switch to your motor?andrew678122 wrote: ↑24 Jun 2019 18:18I think I might need a new motor, sometimes when it starts up it's running backwards...

Re: Cartridges, styli, and confusion
The cap at the motor determines the rotation of the motor, if it runs backwards sometime or jitters you need a new one

Forgive me for asking this - but you do have the outer platter, don't you? :)

Re: Cartridges, styli, and confusion
One more observation - in case a) it matters, and b) you didn't know - the original headshells didn't have the mounting screws that came up through the top surface. The screws went into threaded inserts on the underside.

Yeah I knew that someone had done a number on it. Derspankster said he has some AR headshells so when I get closer to being done I'll get one from him.tcolegrove wrote: ↑27 Jun 2019 23:14One more observation - in case a) it matters, and b) you didn't know - the original headshells didn't have the mounting screws that came up through the top surface. Re: Cartridges, styli, and confusion
Over time sometimes the head shell boss screw inserts would come loose and come out. It happened to my original head shell. I ended up drilling out the head shell out like the andrew678122 has. It works. But, I liked the original look myself. I just wish I would have bought a quantity of replacements back when I bought my turntable. They were $2 each directly from AR.

I went in the army in 1966 and was making the princely sum of $88 a month... I could have bought one!derspankster wrote: ↑28 Jun 2019 20:39Yes, I paid $77 hard earned 1969 dollars for mine.andrew678122 wrote: ↑28 Jun 2019 18:06Yeah I think buying any of the parts and stockpiling them... and complete turntables!
