Technics 1200mk5 internal voltage conversion

Post by master_gidian » 16 Jun 2019 05:32

Hello all,
My name is Kaine and I have been a long time fan of this site but this is my first actual post.

I have a Japanese Technics 1200mk5 that am looking to get internally converted so that the turntable works in Australia.
Basically it needs to be converted from 110v to 240v ac.

I have done a fair bit of research and have come up with using a toroidal transformer from RS components part number is 671-8943. I am also looking to add another fuse in line for added protection.

My main questions are:

Does anyone know of any guides I can follow for this or advice to do this procedure?
Does anyone know if or what type of capacitor I should use for this?

Any advice except using an external psu would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Welcome to the forum :D

There’s a similar project here, not sure if this is any help? ... ost4235724

Alternatively it might be easier to swap parts with those from a dual voltage model. The service manuals here should help identify the relevant parts: ... 1200.shtml
