Looks like a flexidisk but it's on paperboard. There was a flexidisk version though according to discogs.

Sadly it's not a winner. It's kinda fun though, it's a guy telling a class to repeat the McDonald's menu after he says it all in one breath, and if the class can do it all without messing up the person listening will win a million dollars!

Of course they get 95% there and then mess up and the guy says sorry you didn't win but look on the back for those coupons!! (There was a card the record was glued to that had coupons) but I don't have that piece.

I grabbed these at an antique mall Saturday. ELO looks like it's brand new but it's a club edition from 1977. The absolute highlight is finding a Casiopea album! Rush 2112 is also in amazing condition for a 1976 repress. The only album in sorta bad shape is the Grand Funk and the only thing wrong is the sleeve is split.
Yes, another Casiopea fan here! I am so glad I got turned onto them... :D

I have a 12" of "Asayake", but their best one IMO is their follow up to "Make Up City" called "Eyes Of The Mind" (which I have on vinyl)...

That and the next one, "Cross Point"...All three are classics of 80's jazz-funk! I have seen copies of "Make Up City", but the other two you might have to look for...Worth it if you're a fan, though! 8)

Edit: I did see several cheap copies of EOTM on Discogs, though...

I really want Mint Jam. That video link is pretty rad! It's amazing that records were so ubiquitous back in the 80s that they were practically like AOL floppies and CDs.

"Mint Jams" is great, too! So many great highlights in their catalog, though! 8)

And yes, if you like them, T-Square should also be on your radar...

...as well as Haruomi Hosono and Masayoshi Takanaka...

Once you get a taste of those artists, then the rest of Japanese smooth jazz, funk and city-pop are not that far away!

That Shorty Long was a good find! "Here Comes The Judge" was the big hit, but lots of other funky stuff...I love "Function At The Junction" and "Ain't No Justice", for example... 8)

Reminds me a little of Jr. Walker without the horns...

OK, if you really want to go the city pop route, I can guide you...I would start with Tatsuro Yamashita's "For You" and his wife Mariya Takeuchi's "Variety" album...Pure 80's city pop and landmark albums! YMO vocalist Yukihiro Takahashi's "Drip Dry Eyes" is another classic! Not easy to find, but worth searching out! Here, have a listen! :D

Once you have those out of the way, look for Junko Ohashi's "Magical" album, Taeko Ohnuki's "Sunshower" album, Tomoko Aran's ""Fuyü-Kükan" album and both Toshiki Kadomatsu's "Sea Is A Lady" and "After 5 Crash" albums...

All classics of the J-Pop/funk genre and ones that cannot be reissued on vinyl fast enough! :D

There is a lot of fun J-pop from the 80's...Other countries like Indonesia, The Phillipines, Hong Kong and even South Korea benefitted from the genre, with some of their own artists offering a take on this funky pop...I only recently got into this stuff in the last couple of years, although I'd been a funk/soul/jazz fan almost my whole life...It was a Chicago DJ named Van Paugam who opened my eyes to the genre, and the rest, as they say, is history!

Now, pay attention, truedeth...If you like those classics, I will add a few more personal favorites...

This is pretty smooth...

and here's the English variant...

...but THIS may well be the SMOOTHEST thing I've ever heard in my life...

If that doesn't get you excited about JPop from the 80's, I don't know what will! It's out there, but more of us will have to keep requesting it, commenting on it and talking about it...In fact, it wasn't as well-known in Japan as you might think, but in certain circles, it has been revered and some are even trying to revive the style...Tatsuro Yamashita and Mariya Takeuchi, I've heard, are like Beyonce and Jay-Z in their native Japan...

Recently, Light In The Attic recently put out their first city pop compilation here...

https://lightintheattic.net/releases/47 ... -1976-1986

I think it bodes well for more of this stuff as they are sold out of copies and have to backorder more! :D

If you want to know more about city pop from Japan, read this, too...

Enjoy!! 8)

Good selection. I really like the anri tracks. I may have to put myself on that list for the light in the attic release. It's super vaporwave. I guess liking prog, videogame music, jazz fusion, and vaporwave just funnels you into cool jazzy jpop

Two Ford motors filmstrip records that aren't on discogs yet (I added one so far)
A Hi-Fi demo record, a bongo record, and some easy listening. Also a flexidisk for shaving to!?
