I admire how Benz was not afraid to have different coil schemes. Iron cross in some models and ruby plate in others. And some very odd ones (like the 0.1mV Ebony TR wound to work with the best transformers and probably loved in Japan).

No wonder - the eternal path to perfection is like a road to the horizon line. ))

So look around for yourself, a miracle can be on a further outstretched hand and you will never see it using a telescope))
Our friend Bobby has a cartridge with amazing sound. I did not hear the second one and so far I could not repeat the effect, I called it the “foreground effect”. Anything louder automatically moves to the center of the scene. This carousel fascinates and makes familiar works sound in a special way. It is also impossible to explain from a logical point of view.

How do you rate the Rondo Red Dmitriy? I have one sat here doing nothing.

Myles,
Yes, I like the sound of Red, but this is my personal preference ))

Today I was at a public audition with my Delta "air" prototype. The sound was "very" bad.
But I am calm, I understand that the presented system did not capture the low output of my cartridge. Today, Sony XL-55, who played the role of an orbiter, remained the favorite.
I have 2 ways: to raise the output of my cartridge to 0.2 mV, or not to listen to it ))

Similarly, Ortofon has an MC2000 with an output of 0.045 mV and there is a Rondo with an output of 0.5 mV. The sound of Rondo is staggering, with the Wow effect.
MC2000 has a high resolution, but no wow effect. What's better ? Everyone must make a choice on their own.
I prefer the high resolution wow effect. ))
Unfortunately today I did not manage to present to the public such a product.

P.S. The main gift of such presentations is new friends and colleagues in passion. It's great ! ))

In terms of my understanding of the ortofon evolution, it was the last generator design before the switch to the 'Jubilee' style generator which persists to this day. I have one which has had the cantilever from an AT155LC fitted. PM me if you want to find out more.

Bill

If you throw away all the advertising rubbish that is written in audio magazines and look at this system from a technical point of view.
This ball (cube, pyromid, cylinder) allowed to partially balance the generator ZYX placing its center of mass directly above the tip of the stylus. But as the cartridge is part of the larger system (cartridge + tonacm) with its center of mass, then, one should assume, such a design of the cartridge simplifies the coherence of the system as a whole.
This, of course, somehow, influences the sound, but I also see that the cartridge is very carefully assembled and the wiring is very well divorced, the magnetic circuit is copper-plated, as in speakers. But writing about it is useless.
It is easier to write that the energy of the Earth passes through the ball and fills the vinyl groove to the very edges, while the stylus, bathing in this energy, makes divine vibrations without touching the walls and the money will flow like a river ))
