...also i wonder if, respectively how much the magnetic field needed for levitation - and the permanent magnet inside the speaker needed for levitation - does interfere with the speaker driver. This should be one of the most unfavourable ways to built a speaker (and one of the most unecological ways).
For an even more unfavourable way i only can think of placing a speaker into a vacuum-chamber.

I had a look at their Kickstarter site out of curiosity and the way they are treating the backers isn't right. It's criminal if you ask me. No where does it state that backers have to wait for commercial success of the product before the backers get fulfilled. I am surprised no one is suing them yet and it certainly looks like most of the them will have to wait a very long time more to even get their fulfilment.

This is the problem with crowdfunding and the reason I don't participate. There is no guarantee you will get the product. It seems Mag-lev severely underestimated the costs to develop and produce this turntable. Now they they seem to be stuck with a cash flow problem. I just hope they manage to stay in business long enough for all the backers to get their turntables.

Kickstarter was never meant to be for company setup and then, maybe, the backers get something later.
The Kickstarter page looks like half the budget went into the marketing glossies.

By the looks of things at the crowdfunding page, not more than a handful out of the hundred of backers have their orders fulfilled. They are even encouraging those who cannot wait to sell their queue number to others. They also seem to be more concern about registering pattern and copyright in each country more than delivering products. Not sincere.

I cannot find the backer feedback, but I do know that the design registration process is very expensive

Hello,

This is priceless! They thought it a good idea to register the design, just in case someone else would want to steal the idea. Deluded!

Mike.

Indeed. On the other hand as not a lot do care about the performance of a tt today, there might be some who want to make a buck by copying...

...anyway the story seems to go on...

I'm following only as an extremely doubtful observer, and the comments section show some extremely patient, polite folks, whom I think are ultimately not going to be happy, rither with the wait, or with the final product.

One of the main functions of a turntable is to hold the cartridge and record surface in a stable relationship. Any "innovation" is besides the point if a turntable fails to do that. It should be out of serious consideration. Game over.

One of the great features of the original AR table was that the platter and arm, although suspended separately from the plinth, were joined together to prevent any relative movement. The Maglev flouts this feature, and invites problems.

OMG.

At least the tt will become (and allready has become) that expensive that no average earner is able to afford it.
