Re: Levitating Turntable
Just for clarification, i am not passing judgement on the Balkan, i`m trying to show what kind of "logic" this reviewer has: "Something i like was produced somewhere so this might be a technological Mecca for a century!"
I mean come on, an innovative product does not indicate a "technological Mecca" in any way. A lot of innovative things were and are inventend all over the world, without creating or having a technologial Mecca for just a decade - and still i mean things that really are innovative, not just eye candy.
...
Maybe the real problem are the customers. Influencers on YT/the internet are getting payed as long as they make people buy products. So the producer of this product doesn´t really care about a reasonable review, as long as his product is sold - and the reviewer doesn´t need to make reasonable reviews as long as he gets payed by the producer.
This only can be stopped by the customers, otherwise it will go on like this.

I'm not seeing much sign or sales of this product beyond the Kickstarter backers

No offense taken! Was just poking a bit.
I think that the internet, especially YT caught many by surprise, so we need to adapt in some way. It's a bit of a chaos nowadays..
I think that the jump from the original price of 1,5k to over 3,5k shows that there is a certain amount of interest for this product. Time will show how much customers they can keep, or expand for that matter. To be completely fair the Kickstarter turntables had a budget tonearm which was then replaced for a higher model.

Re: Levitating Turntable
Wasn´t the kickstarter-price below 1k?
I think the price over 3.5k shows that they had to invest a lot to make it work at all... if there was big interest they could produce in large numbers which would reduce price...

Re: Levitating Turntable
HiFi retail is a high multiple of manufacturing cost and this design has probably required more hand selection and tweaking than they planned to get a vaguely stable rotation

Re: Levitating Turntable
The few reviews I have seen tend to gloss over the sound aspect of the turntable and focus only on the levitation part.

It's a spectacular gimmick, from a visual aspect. A great way to wow and impress your friends and neighbors. They don't need to hear it, only see it.

Maybe the whole point is that it's so impressive there is no need to listen - (tongue in cheek)

Re: Levitating Turntable
A three head cassette deck when executed well (i.e. Nakamichi when still family owned) was technically/measurably better that a two head deck, not a "gimmick" - actually solved a problem.

Do some homework on the differences between tape deck playback and record heads. A single dual purpose playback/record head must be a compromise versus separate record and playback heads.
