Re: Back in the Pink
One turntable I would like on my long shelf is a Pink Triangle. My departed friend owned a hifi shop long ago and Pink Triangle was one he sold. Apart being an equal rights person we are all the same the turntables were very nice, but years later seems a few had issues like yours. Still very nice turntables glad you got yours going again..

Re: Back in the Pink
Would you mind sharing the decision to go for the OL motor option as opposed to the alternatives?
Just interested as may have to go down this path for my PT Too as well soon!
ps. nice looking deck and also great amp you've got there!

There are cheaper options - OL does not have the best of reputations in some quarters.
DC'd my LPT using a Technics FG turntable motor which works beautifully.

Re: Back in the Pink
Was wondering that myself and I'd like to. Trouble is I don't have the expertise to fix it myself and I'm not sure who to take it to. I've spoken to couple of people who've advised not to bother and to go for a DC kit instead. That's a rather expensive option though.
Still trying to decide what to do about it.

With the Technics FG there isn't much expense over the original Technics turntable.
Doesn't start up quite as quick as the original synchronous - but absolutely silent in use.

Biggest problem with the LPT was lack of space.

Nice fix! Will bear it in mind if I can't get my PSU repaired.

Re: Back in the Pink
I’ve got absolutely no DIY ability. The decision to go DC was to solve the problem without posting the deck more than once. The acrylic knob was damaged in the post so I drove hundreds of miles to collect it rather than risk return by mail.
The OL motor isn’t silent. The AC was and worked without problems for many years. The deck does sound great now though so I’m currently very happy. The belt is staying on the new pulley and not slipping off the platter. The repair cost about £400.
Thanks for the comment on the amp. That’s a Claymore by Inca Tech. Just serviced by the original designer, Colin Wonfor.

Thanks for sharing. If I can't get mine fixed, and it seems difficult to find someone who reckons they can successfully do it, then it might be the DC route for me too but I'm reluctant due to the cost. I might give up and just ditch the deck completely!
Thought that was a Claymore you've got there. Great amps, used to have one back in the 80's.

Re: Back in the Pink
It seems a shame to ditch the deck although I felt like throwing in the towel at several points before the final fix.
If you like vinyl, a repair is a good investment. I don’t think you’d get a better modern deck for under a couple of grand.
It might be that one of the gentlemen or ladies ( who am I Kidding- gentlemen) on this forum might come up with a solution.
The Claymore is great and Colin Wonfor has brought out this:

Good luck!

Re: Back in the Pink
I recently installed the OL mid level dc motor and power supply in addition to the OL counterweight. I did the motor mod first
And was astounded by the overall sound improvement. Mind you I was comparing to
The original motor which had intermittant speed issues and the power supply which I had replaced all the caps. After this I installed the end stub and counterweight
And was met with tighter better defined bass and highs too. It cost me a small bundle but I am happy as I always had a gut feeling this deck could deliver more and feel proud of keeping her alive. I have owned many tt's and I will never sell this one. I run it through a very old 70 watt integrated and Paradigm monitors. My test album of choice for before and after my mods was Roxy Music- Avalon
