OK, so back to my "10 cent thrift shop" and there's a guy on the floor pawing over all the Andy Williams and Percy Faith albums, inspecting each one for scratches and pops...I've got no time for that...So, I stick to the stack of 45's on the higher shelves and come away with some much more interesting titles...

1. PERRY COMO The Island Of Forgotten Lovers b/w Caterina (PS)
2. BILL SALUGA Dancin' Johnson Part I b/w Part II

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7knBOmHhaA

Comedian and actor Bill Saluga was known for his alter-ego Raymond Johnson, Jr. He was the ticket taker in this scene from "Seinfeld"...

I also picked up some classic rock n' roll and doo wop!

1. RICKY NELSON Lonesome Town b/w I Got A Feeling
2. RICKY NELSON It's Late b/w Never Be Anyone Else But You
3. FATS DOMINO Blueberry Hill b/w Honey Chile
4. FATS DOMINO Valley Of Tears b/w It's You I Love
5. THE FLEETWOODS Come Softly To Me b/w I Care So Much
6. THE G-CLEFS Ka-Ding-Dong b/w Darla, My Darlin'
7. KEELY SMITH The Whippoorwill b/w Sometimes

Then, some unknowns...

8. THE FOUR ESQUIRES Look Homeward Angel b/w Santo Domingo
9. THE BETTY SMITH GROUP Bewitched b/w Hand Jive

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fV2FMYFYW2I
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBvr7Vy0jKY

10. DON LEE Charmaine b/w Echo, Echo, Echo

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jM1GRtLKG50
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NjgzlA93iU

11. THE PLAYBOYS Over The Weekend b/w Double Talk

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l86ZD4jRYCA

12. PATTY SATURDAY Love Is A Beautiful Thing b/w Ladies Choice

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zoOAn8B98CI
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKKRpB5smes

All original labels, too! No reissues! :D

I can't complain too much and I can throw a bunch of 'em on the changer and have a sock hop of my own, should I desire! 8)

Speaking of thrift shops, did you guys know that today is National Thrift Store Day...

There is an interesting history behind these shops...

https://www.msn.com/en-us/lifestyle/wha ... ailsignout

So, in honor of them, why not go out and visit a few and maybe buy some records or used audio gear??? :-k And anyone who has followed this thread knows I do not shy away from a good thrift store! =D> Better than throwing stuff in a landfill, I say... [-X

And I have the perfect background music for a day thrifting! :D

I managed to pick up the following this morning which isn't bad considering how few I had to look through.:

-James Taylor-Flag has Rainy Day Man and Up on the Roof.

-America-Self Titled (Debut) has Horse With no Name and I Need You

-Marty Robbins-More Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs

-Buck Owens and his Buckaroos-I Don't Care

-Beach Boys-Good Vibrations Best Of-Reprise Records-
This has some songs you don't normally find on a Beach Boys best of such as Sail on Sailor,Sloop John B and Do it Again in addition to the better known songs such as Wouldn't it be Nice and Good Vibrations.

Nice finds! One of my favorite Beach Boys songs besides the ones you mentioned, Tink, is the brilliant instrumental b-side, "Let's Go Away For A While"...

And that's exactly what I did...I went away for awhile to one of my local thrift shops, my "10 cent thrift shop", because that's all I can afford this week, after other expenses and possibly some new acquisitions of equipment (Stay tuned for that!)...Still, I came away with some gems on the cheap that I couldn't pass up...

I happened to be in the area again of my "10 cent thrift shop", although I'm peeved that the albums have gone up to 25 cents now! :?

Of course, I paid $8.69 for 30 albums, 4 singles and a few children's records and oddities, so I'm not complaining too much! 8-[

This time, a lot of fantastic jazz came my way...Here is what I got for my money...

1. CHICK COREA My Spanish Heart
2. CHICK COREA Three Quartets
3. MAYNARD FERGUSON Maynard Ferguson

5. LES MCCANN Invitation To Openness
6. AHMAD JAMAL TRIO AT THE PERSHING But Not For Me
7. TOOTS THIELEMANS Contrasts...The Provocative Musical Genius Of Toots Thielemans
8. EARL BOSTIC Plays Sweet Tunes Of The Fantastic 50's

16. BOBBY SHORT Moments Like This (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZrGqSvgODk)
17. QUINCY JONES Quincy Jones Plays Hip Hits

There were also these odd albums...

18. PERCY FAITH & HIS ORCHESTRA New Thing
19. JACK DE MELLO Remembers Kui Lee
20. PEGGY LEE Blues Cross Country (w/ Quincy Jones)
21. VARIOUS ARTISTS All Star Golden Oldies (Nutmegs, Faye Adams, Isley Bros., Del Vikings, etc.) on the Spin-O-Rama label
22. MARTIN DENNY Exotic Night
23. FRANK SINATRA Sinatra And Swingin' Brass (w/ Neal Hefti)

And the album of the day was...

24. GEORGE BENSON Breezin'

I love that album so much, I bought all THREE copies!

42452

There were also a couple copies of his "Living Inside Your Love" album...

And then, since my dad loved these guys and I already have a 78' set for Gene Autry and his horse, Champion, I found these...

42443
42444

And then, a few oddities and children's records...

42445
42446
42447

The 4 singles were...

NAT KING COLE Step Right Up (And Say You Love Me) b/w Magic Moment

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TL8BIQ1tuM

DICK AND DEEDEE Turn Around b/w Don't Leave Me

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTRsaBBteyY

Nice rare Northern Soul! 8)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55rQKuuKjHA

THE ENCHANTERS I Wanna Thank You b/w I'm A Good Man

Apparently, that last one is Garnet Mimms' band after he left the group...Produced by Jerry Ragovoy!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Edh9i5vRqB4

And the odd man out is this unusual Flexi-Disc with Braille writing on it...If you can tell me any more about this mystery disc, I'm all ears! :-k

42450
42451
42448
42449

What do you think of this strange haul? :-k

Well...Another stop at a local thrift shop yielded these for 50 cents each...

1. JEANNIE C. RILEY The Generation Gap
2. HERMAN'S HERMITS Blaze
3. THE SEEKERS Georgy Girl
4. TOMMY BOYCE & BOBBY HART Test Patterns
5. DORIS DAY Wonderful Day
6. BOBBIE GENTRY Ode To Billie Joe
7. THE BEACH BOYS Best Of The Beach Boys (Capitol Star Line)
8. JOHN MAYALL Memories
9. PERCY FAITH A Time For Love (It had some interesting 60's covers on it...)
10. "Hi Fi Summer Holiday" (bought for the cover...)

...and three various 80's picture sleeves from Toni Basil, The Mary Jane Girls and Genesis thrown in for free...Not a bad haul and I bought a $20 Canon digital camera, at the same time, to have a little fun with...

Can't complain about that! :D

Today, I also got to add to my collection of picture sleeves and 60's records...I bought the following nine 45's from a small vintage shop out in the country a bit (on the way to buy some apple cider at a cider mill, the only way to get it IMO)...$1.00 each, too!

1. THE YARDBIRDS Heart Full Of Soul b/w Steeled Blues (PS)
2. THE RIGHTEOUS BROTHERS Soul And Inspiration b/w B Side Blues (PS)
3. THE CYRKLE Turn Down Day b/w Big, Little Woman (PS)
4. SYLVAIN POONS & OETZE VERSCHOOR Zuiderzee-Ballade b/w Orgelliedje (Amsterdam) (PS) (Dutch tune bought mainly for the sleeve) (PS)
5. ROSCO ROBINSON One More Time b/w That's Enough
( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyHCpYpUW3E )
6. CHARLIE JESTER AND THE TEAM MATES Sincerely Your Friend b/w Crazy Baby
( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mi1tua-XzfA )
7. LEE & THE LEOPARDS Come Into My Palace b/w Trying To Make It
( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdP9qPkuQ6Y )
8. THE CRYAN SHAMES Sugar And Spice b/w Ben Franklin's Almanac
9. THE CYRKLE Money To Burn b/w Please Don't Ever Leave Me

Most of those in original company sleeves! It seems the small little vintage shops and boutique places can sometimes offer up unique records...Sadly, I saw the shop stereo in a corner, nothing but a small stack of LP records and a blue and white patterned Crosley Cruiser... [-( [-X

These 45's were offered, though, by a friend of the shop owner, so they didn't actually see play on the Crosley...Other than a little cleaning, excellent condition, as far as I can tell, too! 8)

Those look like some interesting finds VM, and it was nice to find a couple of singles other than Red Rubber Ball from The Cyrkle! 8)

You must have cringed a bit being in the same vicinity as a crosley though!
