I understand using the proper gauge wire for the job, but Oh Brother, after looking at that I don't need Dr. Freud to tell me why I have feelings of inadequacy.   #-o

Don't they know that such thick cables can cause internal signal reflections and interference within the cable, this can of course be removed by using high quality 22 AWG, lolLD100 wrote:I understand using the proper gauge wire for the job, but Oh Brother, after looking at that I don't need Dr. Freud to tell me why I have feelings of inadequacy.   #-o

Re: Snake Oil Product of the Year Awards
Even before I bought my first CD player in 1988, I took a demonstration in a local shop, where the guy demoed a Philips player througha Rotel amp and Infinity speakers. He sat me on a stool and handed me a demo CD and said "pick a track". I chose How Long by Lipps Inc, as I liked the original by Ace, and was interested to hear what that Funky Town band would do to it.
During the demo, he made the point of swapping around the figure-of-eight mains plug on the player, and then saying to me: "Can you hear it sounds less cloudy now?" Never mind that AC power, whichever way round it is served, will be fed into a rectifier circuit for conversion into DC! I quietly thought: "No I cannot hear a difference, you dolt!"
That was my first foray into audio plankdom....

Back in the late 80's - early 90's when I made the transition to CD from vinyl, I tried out a tip from the Hi-Fi magazines, coat the edge of your CD's with a green marker pen.
Not willing to risk a CD that I had shelled out my hard-earned for, I treated a 'freebie' test CD with the magic formula, the end result?
The CD sounded stunning, sadly no more stunning than it did pre treatment. I filed this incident under the 'Audio bullsh*t' heading........

I remember them - it was supposedly to stop light leakage at the rim of the disc or something...
They were green ink felt pens if I remember correctly...
