That is a first class article and encompasses many of the things we have debated and evolved as good practise on this site. It seems that the key, is clean records, careful stylus treatment and regular examination. I have posted before on this site that I keep a log of stylus usage, so that I can re-enforce my thinking when I listen for signs of wear.

I think this article is an excellent reference article because, Shure will have put a great deal of thought and research into this, before writing it. We too, as vinyl lovers have also put a lot of thought and effort in to the discussion and practice of good record care. We represent a large sample size and our findings concur with this excellent article.......... In addition, many of us have excellent vinyl collections which have lasted throughout the years and so, not only do we think about how we care for them but, there is a large body of evidence that our good practice works ! :D
