Online Radio
(Jas, I hope this kinda of post is allowed!)
I'm currently listening to some great Renaissance music on ancientfm.com
They play great early music at surprisingly great sound quality - I didn't think a flash player was capable of such quality! Highly recommended to all renaissance/early music lovers.

Re: Renaissance online radio
Awesome!
I have my computer hooked up to my system, so it's as much a part of it as my turntable, so this sounds REALLY good!
I'm not a fan of radio, but this is the kinda station that I just have on all day... it's so good!

Re: Renaissance online radio
It sounds like a good way to become familiar with music that has proven very difficult to find. I used to work with a guy who would play Scottish madrigals and was never able to find the album he used to play, but I keep trying. If I can't buy it I can at least listen to it. I just can't play what I want when I want. Thanks for the link.

Re: Renaissance online radio
Broadcast FM here in the US of A has pretty much become homogenized/centralized corporate broadcasting more concerned with marketing then music content. There are a few college and Nation Public Radio stations around here but just a couple.
Thank heaven for internet radio giving some variety even if the sound quality is sometimes limited.
I will happly give this early music based source a listen.

Have got it tuned in right now....... :) Finding this station was a lot easier than I what I thought I had to go through to add it..... :) :)Spyes wrote:Awesome!

Nice, I can see my DSL modem accessing but it's seems not to slow down my computer. 128kbps sounding nice as you mentioned, with artist / titles displayed..... :)
It's playing through the Tape 2 input on a Nak SR-4a..... :)
This sure beats any holiday musak prevalent everywhere......
Thanks again Spyes.... :)

Re: Renaissance online radio
An online radio station that has been mentioned before on this forum is www.concertzender.nl out of the Netherlands. It is really a superior resource in my opinion. All of music is there, from western classical/art music, including early music, renaissance, baroque, classical, romantic, and modern, to jazz, world, and pop thrown in for good measure. Excellent programming from the DJs (should we still call them disc jockeys, or would digital-storage-and-retrieval-system jockeys be more appropriate nowadays?).
This is the station I listen to, for its quality and variety.
Jas, would a sticky for online radio stations be appropriate for this forum? I believe many members would appreciate such a resource.

Fred - yeah, it's a great channel, glad you like it! :D
majerjack - That site is really cool! I've already played around with some of the channels, great stuff! Thanks for that.
And I agree - Jas, it'd be great to get a sticky going with this stuff, I'm sure there are plenty of awesome internet radio's that we're missing out on!

Re: Online Radio
I often listen online when in the office as my vintage Roberts wireless only goes up to 102 on FM and High Peak Radio is on 106.4.
Many people dont consider it a serious HiFi medium but it serves a purpose =D>

Re: Online Radio
I have never tried this internet radio malarky so I'll have to trial it when I get home.
Then again I have just returned to the virtues of FM after years of living with DAB. Good external aerial and the quality of the sound is just mind bending at times. Loving it.

Re: Online Radio
Our local jazz station has an on-line feed of ... 48 kbps. Not impressive!
I do like listening to broadcasts from other parts of the world. And I don't need a great long antenna.
Cheers,
Alec
