Re: What equipment have you bought this week?
Thanks everyone for your feedback.
As you can see, I need yo improve significantly my knowledge about electrónics!
I decide yo replace the original cerámic cartridge by a new one because stylus is defect and couldn't find replacement. Certainly I didn't search too much as saw MM ones at an affordable price (paid 33 euro for one complete cartridge (including stylus) Rega carbón made.
Now I will try to scrap Internet to try to find the original stylus and reinstall the original cartridge. Will leave the preamp mod for a near future, once have improve my electrónics knowledge.
Any advise about sites where can find this kind of old stylus?
Regarding the initial problem about how to replace the four cables, any clue how to dismantle the tonearm?
I will try to upload some picture later.
Thanks for your support

There are several YouTube videos out there...maybe not on your specific model, but scour them thoroughly, looking for older models and looking at yours to see how close the construction may be.
Be careful, but go forward. Get new wire thru a good dealer..I can recommend Needle Doctor here in the Twin Cities. They're good.

Javier, in order for us to tell you where to find a new stylus, we either need a photo of the cartridge or the model number from the cartridge or the original stylus. The original may have been changed over the years and the net isn't showing your model for me.

Thanks for your feedback.
After a couple of hours diving into Internet could find finally the original (or at least the installed one) stylus. It's a Fox 168 ZST type.
Ordered also some flexible colored cables, 26 awg size, (silicone covered) and terminals.
I will keep you updated about my progress.
Thanks again for your support.

Hmmm...I saw a VoM machine similar to that in my local thrift store a while back, cary...It was dirt cheap, too, and now I wonder if I should have just bought it for fun... :-k
Of course, one can only have so many turntables... 8-[

LOL, a VCR - certainly not looked for, but this 4 head Sony SLV-676UC is pretty slick and interesting and seems to be a TOTL unit. Off to a thrift store to get a couple of tapes and see how well it works.

That looks like a real beauty. I hope you have a remote for it.
I would recommend HG or SHG (Super High Grade) for taping. The fastest speed will give best results but the SHG will give adequate results on a lower speed.Fuji, Kodak, Maxell etc. are good, avoid crap makes such as Embassy.

Unfortunately there is no remote, however it is support by Harmony remotes and I have a couple of those. Good tips on the tapes.

Many of us, myself included, have a bunch of recorded videotapes, that we may want to watch, and we need a working vcr. I have 2, poorly working ones. I may get one off ebay or a thrift store.
