'contributor' member status.

Post by GuidoK » 19 Sep 2019 18:55

What happened to the 'contributor' member status?
There used to be one for members that had uploaded documents to the library.
Did that got lost with different forum software or something like that?

Yes, the forum was migrated to newer software in October 2018 and all forum mods were lost except user flags and the gallery (luckily someone ported these mods). All of the mods I wrote are gone.

The contributor status (and number of uploads) is now logged in a separate database and affects download limits, but isn't shown in the forum.

Thanks for your reply.
Out of curiosity, do you remember when you started to log who uploaded what?
At some point in time uploads in the library got the user names attached to them. Maybe in 2008 or 2009 somewhere? (I presume that from that point in time you started logging the names)

I don't remember exactly when, but sometime after the main site became database driven as opposed to flat files. I manually filled in the uploader on many older entries using archived news posts so there is some overlap.

Ah yes the news is archived. Thats super handy to know!
The reason why I was asking is that I once uploaded manuals for a Sony ps-x75 and ps-x555es. That ps-x75 manual I got in an email from another person but I couldnt remember his name, and recently on another forum I spoke with someone and I have the feeling it was him. I found in the news archive that I added those files on 18th of december 2008, so that gave me a pointer in what period I had to search in my email archive for his name. (and he was the guy ;))
So 18th of december 2008 apparently the site still wasn't database driven ;)
