I was given a Phase Linear 8000 (aka Pioneer PL-L1000) a few days ago by the original owner. It's very clean and hasn't seen a lot of use but the belt for the cueing mechanism is dead. A new belt arrived today and I hope to install it soon.
Other than potentially recapping, barring some unforeseen failures yet to be discovered, what might I want to do before I attempt to play a record?

Re: Pioneer PL-L1000
I have the original owner's manual, and I downloaded the 72 page service manual a few days ago.
I would typically change a belt and lube the platter bearing, and perhaps lube a motor, but this is a direct drive plus the platter bearing is some sort of inverted dry bearing or somethingorother. I can clean and test the features for functionality, but I'm wondering what specific issues other's have encountered with this particular machine.

I know this is a bit of a late reply, but the only things I've encountered on mine is making sure the transport rails are clean and checking if the feet suspension rubber boots aren't rotted. New boots can be found by a supplier on etsy.com.

Re: Pioneer PL-L1000
Thanks.
I've cleaned the rails and replaced the belt for the cueing mechanism, as well as cleaned and lubed the cueing mechanism. I'm going back in to replace the power cord and interconnects with low capacitance wire. While in there I intended to replace the boots with bicycle tube, but if there's a source for boots I may look for them and use them instead.
