Value of Sony PS-8750 in mint cond.

Post by Motormedia » 07 Feb 2007 18:36

I just purchased an SL-1200 from an old couple (the most unlikely owners of this TT you could imagine) in top condition. They were also going to sell an old Sony PS-8750 in perfect condition but hadn't put in an ad yet. I have the possibility to buy this TT but what is it worth? And is it a good one? It sure looks great and it looks like it is one of Sonys more costly TT's. I don't wanna screw the couple but I sure don't wanna pay too much either.

This is one of the finest turntables Sony ever made( in my opinion)
It,s a heavy, very well built table with good carbon arm, with a true audiofil sound.
It,s not offered much second hand, and I heave seen it for around $300-500 asked most of the time.(when available)
It,s in the league of dd micro seiki, when I have to give a opinion.

Thanks guys, apparently the owners seem to realise its value. Ive been offered to buy it for $500. Not exactly a bargain. I'm a bit hesitant to buy a DD-table this old with regards to the complexity of repairing it in case something goes wrong. But is sure is a beauty...

I have to add though that it is an added bonus to know whom I would buy from. In this case some people who really has taken care of their stuff. I gotta give this some thought.

It looks a lovely TT. Sony don't make them like that any more.
