Traveling with PS-X600

Post by Timfromfmass » 14 Jan 2020 18:32

So I’m driving 2.5 hours to pick up this table tomorrow. I’ve never traveled more than across town with a turntable. Any tips on doing so, especially with this model?

The seller is busy and fairly non responsive so I’m just glad I got him to commit to a time haha. I don’t know if he has the transport screws or not, but through some reading I’m not 100% sure they’re necessary? I believe I should remove the platter and I know the underside of it has a coating that’s necessary and sensitive, what’s the best way to store it during the ride? And how about the arm, what precautions should I take?

Thanks so much in advance for the responses. Super excited about getting this table!

Absolutely remove the platter. Look in the library for the manuals for info on transporting it. I'd be worried about it. I assume he doesn't have the original packing. Let us know.

Put it in the front seat. Never in the trunk.

So I looked at the manual and it obviously says to use the original packaging. I’m sure he doesn’t have that. I’ve done some looking into precious threads and one owner of a similar 555es implied that the transit screws locked down a transformer but he didn’t feel it was heavy enough to do any damage unless it was being shipped and knocked around.

The platter is what I’m most concerned about. After I remove it what’s the best way to place it and ensure that that coating isn’t damaged

I’m hoping some owners who purchased used can give some advice as to what they did/didn’t do when getting theirs

Traveling in an suv with my wife and baby. Been thinking all day about how I’m going to tell my wife she needs to ride home in the back seat lol

I'd pick up some air bubble packing.
