I had downloaded the strobe program many years ago from Nauck's vintage records. It was a DOS based program which I can no longer find on his website, and my floppy disc containing it has also become corrupted. Fortunately, I had backed it up on an obsolete PC that still functions, so was still able to copy the program to a flash drive, then create a 78, 80 rpm strobe disk. I will post a picture of a strobe with your desired speeds, and could possibly send a copy of the program or file it creates via email if you desire. Your location says UK, do you need it for 50 HZ lighting with 75 bars (80 rpm) and 77 bars (77.92 rpm)? The program will only run on a 32 bit or older PC (at least a 286) and produces a 640x480 BMP file.

I wonder if we have any programmers here at VinylEngine who could rewrite the program for today's computers... [-o<

I'm not a proper programmer (just a web programmer), but I did a quick search of my website HDD and found this.

engineerjohn uploaded it in 2015 but for some reason it is still in my 'check before adding to site' folder.

I don't know how useful it is, but it's another variation on the theme.

Thanks to All, impressive results, although the computer talk is beyond me. I hope I can print off the disc when I get home to my PC. I will report on results and any 78s which I uncover. Steve

I thought that I didn't have any King Cole Trio on 78.

A couple of nights ago I was in my lab working on a KD 500 motor and found this:

https://www.vinylengine.com/turntable_f ... 334/medium

It is a three disc 78 album on Capitol. One selection is a jazz trio arrangement of the Rachmaninoff Prelude in C Sharp Minor. The other selections are:

What Is This Thing Called Love

It's Only A Paper Moon

Easy Listenin' Blues

Sweet Lorraine

Embraceable You

For ~ 1940s shellac records they sound pretty good.

Hi vinyl master,

The King Cole Trio was great. They may have been my first exposure to small group jazz as a kid. There was a 3D music short between the movie features. I believe they played Straighten Up and Fly Right. I was probably 8 to 10 years old and I was blown away.

Sorry for the lack of the 3D movie, but it is still great.

Nat Cole was one of the great piano players and even compared to Art Tatum. A lot of jazz purists were upset when he became a pop singer. I won't weigh in on that as he was great at that as well.

Sadly I don't think I have any King Cole Trio on 78, but I have plenty on CD.

Wow, Phil! I think that might be the same one I have...I'm not sure if the cover is the same color, but it looks very similar...

After making a trip to get a couple used rims and tires for my car to replace ones mangled or destroyed by potholes, I had time to stop at an antique shop and go through a couple boxes. While most 78's were common, and all but a few diamond disks appeared to have damage, or possible skip\ hung groove issues, 5 did follow me home for a cleaning and a spin.

Todays running took me past a junk shop I had seen some $1 78s in, and having passed up a few Nat King Cole records, grabbed another one I didn't have, and possibly a favorite Nat song with Send For Me, and the flip side, "My Personal Possession" with the Four Knights

And The Crew Cuts with Earth Angel and "KO KO MO", this one a bit worn and not exactly the song versions I anticipated.

Will give it try if I come across it. 1950 ? Early tape era at Columbia. Wonder if it was recorded at 30th St.

Most recent 78 (couple nights ago) 78 was a red Vocalion - "Beale St. Mama" sung by Ernest Hare. Good (clear) acoustical recording.

Vinyl master, just wanted mention that a gift I sent your way including a couple records from my recent pictures on this thread should have arrived today.

I received it, my friend...And a thank you again! =D>

I filled up a box already with quite a few 78's, but I found this vintage guy at an antique shop not that long ago that looks like it would be the perfect size for a few more 10-inchers, and it's got some dividers, too! 8)
