I recently picked up a few twelve inch singles at the Goodwill. Kind of afraid to let them hit the turntable judging from some of the titles!! https://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn1 ... 619513.gif

The record store near me has Love will tear us apart as a 12' single. I'm tempted to buy it.

They also have Portishead's The Rip, but I have the album it's on already, so it's probably pointless.
I'm sure there's a fair few on Ebay.... I have Relax, two Tribes, War, and Power Of Love on 12" - bought them on original release. They sound amazing! As does the Pleasure Principle LP. :)

Mine would be 3 funk classics I used to play out:
Full length version Of Move On Up by Curtis Mayfield
Scorpio by Dennis Coffey
The Ghetto by Donny Hathaway

The latter was a bit embarrassing for a white boy from Oxford to play in some of the posher student bars I played in once or twice but if you ignored the repeated tag line the music is phenominal.

Great subject as I have always thought 12" singles are some of the best replay you will hear from vinyl:

Blue Monday - New Order
Love Cats - The Cure
The Fly - The Cure
This perfect day - The Saints
The Reflex - Duran Duran
Love will tear us apart - Joy Division
Two Tribes - Frankie goes to Hollywood

I've got a few but man, I always start these at 33 1/3 rpm. Every time.

I think I have that on 12" - will have to check today!

Blue Monday, naturally from that period
Art of Noise - Close to the Edit
Wham - Wham Rap etc.
Landscape - Einstein a Gogo
Timbuktu - I gotta wear Shades
Simple Minds - Various
Fashion - double 12"
Frankie Goes To Hollywood - various
The Cure - Love Cats

Too many others to mention!

To me the attraction of the 12" was always the alternative versions/mixes

All of Soft Cell's 12" singles are superb. Great mixes and superb mastering.

The Jackson's - Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground) Extended Disco version
Art of Noise w/Duane Eddy - Peter Gunn Theme
Sade/White Label Remix - Paradise

I have a couple-three feet of 12" singles from back in the day. I moved to NYC in 1976 and discovered disco with the passion of a convert.

With over 1,100 12 inch singles to choose from in the basement, I'd say:

Heaven 17 - Let Me Go
Grandmaster Flash - The Message
Ultravox - We Came to Dance
Any 12" by the Simple Minds
Early Depeche Mode and Yazoo

Clean on Your Bean by Dinosaur L
Had it since the olde days, but seeing it re-issued made me pull it on out, and it does kick.

Some great 12"s mentioned already - Let Me Go, You Spin Me Round, I Can't Wait, Blue Monday etc. Some of my favourites, off the top of my head:

Get The Balance Right (Combination Mix) - Depeche Mode (pretty much anything by Depeche Mode!)
Situation - Yazoo
I.O.U. - Freeez
Last Night A DJ Saved My Life - Indeep
Moments In Love - Art Of Noise
Relax - Frankie Goes To Hollywood
Don't You Want Me - Human League
Tainted Love / Tainted Dub - Soft Cell
Living On Video - Trans X
The Race - Yello
I Could Be Happy - Altered Images
