A massive song for artists within the music industry and the film industry, and only one lady who could handle it!

Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse wrote the lyrics and John Barry the music, the song was Shirley Bassey's biggest hit in October 1964, and spectacularly advanced her career and the Bond movies with a long series as we most remember them starring Sean Connery and Roger Moore which continues to the present day using a number of great actors playing Bond.

John Barry, who went on to write many great theme songs for Film and TV, worked long into the night on the music. According to an article in the London Times the next morning over breakfast, he played the opening three notes to his flatmate at the time, Michael Caine. The actor said bluntly "It's 'Moon River.'" Barry swiftly added the three-note brass line to disguise the similarity.

The mighty Magazine also covered it as the B side to Touch And Go

I have a compilation of Bond Themes on vinyl that was pressed in New Zealand. "Goldfinger" opens Side 2. It sounds incredibly good, very dynamic, very high quality low-noise pressing. It's one of my favorite-sounding records.
