Re: What 45 (or 7") did you buy today?
Of course, not ALL record stores are like this...The good ones will at least include some sort of paper sleeve and have many more than just one box...The great ones will clean the records and even include some nice plastic outer sleeves to go with them...Go to a record show in your area, JDJX, and see how 45's are SUPPOSED to be treated! =D>
I think NYC has one coming on Jul. 15th...
Newburgh had one, too, for a time...There may be others...

Just curious, but have you ever been here, too? :-k

Re: What 45 (or 7") did you buy today?
Just brought home about a thousand 45’s, from early ‘50s to just a couple years ago. Found ‘em all at a thrift store today, freshly donated. Most likely from a recently defunct radio station from the looks of things (lots of DJ & PROMO labels). Got ‘em for the right price, I think. ^_^
Most I’ve checked out so far are in VG+ to NM, but many have generic sleeves. LOTS of ‘70s & ‘80s Sinatra in there - looks unplayed, some punk & new wave, too. I’ll probably post a couple pics tomorrow, but here’s a handful that didn’t fit into the big boxes, which are still in the car..

Re: What 45 (or 7") did you buy today?
These two came in today. I bought them on Discogs, from a UK seller. Both were no hits in Holland, so they were hard to get here. They came in with open center plain sleeves, which I don't like. I always make self printed sleeves when they come without. The Cilla Black single is an original, I made the sleeve according to that.
The Gene Pitney is a re-issue from the 80's, with two A-sides. As this version came with an open blank factory sleeve, I composed a new sleeve. It is made from an original '24 hours', the B-side text replaced by the Libery Valance title.
Did you know the song Liberty Valance was.....not used in the film with the same name.....?

That's really cool, Keesie...I'd love to know how you did those sleeves? What type of sleeves are you using to print on, for instance? :-kKeesie25 wrote:These two came in today. Re: What 45 (or 7") did you buy today?
Thanks Vinyl Master. I search for the right sleeve, mostly on Discogs. This has front and rear, and if not, I do the front on both sides. If a sleeve has to be worked on I use Paint Shop Pro. For instance, the sleeve for Gene Pitney has a title for the B-side which had to be changed. The original text can be wiped off, and replaced by a new one. When ready I save the picture as a JPeg. Then I place it on a blank A-4 sheet of Dynamic Publisher. The sheet already has the right measurements and lines where the new sleeve will come. I made a print-screen of this, hereby. When in the right place, and printed, it is just a matter of folding and gluing the parts together. No cutting at all, just folding. I use plain A-4 paper, and because I fold the edges, it becomes stronger.

Re: What 45 (or 7") did you buy today?
Heard it on the radio the other day and I had forgotten how good it was, so I sought it out on ebay and found a NM 45 for a very reasonable price. If you haven't heard it before or it's been awhile, you can listen to it on youtube and decide whether it should be in your collection.
"Alibis" by Sergio Mendez with Joe Pizzoulo doing the vocals(1984 release). It comes from the Sergio Mendez album "Confetti" (which I also purchased in excellent condition for a fair price). I'm away from home working now, but can't wait to get home and put it on the old TT. My girlfriend said they are at home waiting for me.

Re: What 45 (or 7") did you buy today?
By the way, about 10 years ago I bought out the library of 45's owned by a jukebox operator who had a route of jukeboxes in the Syracuse area. He must have gone out of business with 45's somewhere in the early to mid 90's. As near as I can figure there are about 9000 records. I haven't categorized or sorted them, but there is everything including multiple copies of some things. Many records that are still in the sleeve with the tape seal intact and never played. If you are looking for something specific from the 70's - early 90's, just post it in a reply. I might be able to help you out. It must go back even earlier because I found a few Elvis records on the SUN label.
