Donna Ludwig 45 RPM Record
In 1959, on Feb 3, now known as 'The Day the Music Died, Ritchie Valens died in a plain crash. Shortly thereafter his girlfriend Donna, who he had written a song about, she made a record. Her father wanted to cash in on the death of Ritchie Valens, who he didn't like because of his race. Donna, only agreed to do the record if the money went to his family. I would like to own this record as I love rair finds, and also, as sort of a memory to Ritchie. Does anyone know where I could find this? I've looked on ebay, but no such luck.

I did not know about the Donna Ludwig record, but have you heard the song "Three Stars" by Tommy Dee with Carol Kay & The Teen-Aires? It was also covered by Ruby Wright...The song also references "The Day The Music Died"...
I do have a copy of the Tommy Dee record...And if you want to know about that Carol Kay girl, read this fascinating thread... :D

By the way, regarding the Donna Ludwig record, is this the one? :-k

There's one for sale for $58.00 there...
Of course, you can hear it here...

Yeah, I have heard of that version. That version is not as good as the version that Eddie Cochran did.
That is the one. That web site is the only place that I've come across it. Do you think that's a fair price?

Depending on the rarity of the record, it might be in the ballpark...Some of those 50's pressings can go for big bucks...Of course, if a few scratches or some dust is not a concern, one never knows what they might come across in a record store, flea market, antique shop or even EBay...If you keep your eyes open, you never know what you might find...
And by the way, love Eddie Cochran, too! 8) One of my favorite bands does a nice tribute to him and this guy named Gene Vincent...

Which one, if you don't mind me asking? I love these, too...
Eddie's also great, as these show...
If you like Ritchie, Eddie and Gene, I recommend these 45's, if you don't have them...

They are reissues and all affordable, but if you're looking for originals, they may cost more, but as I have found, not totally expensive, if you know where to look...If you're willing to accept various conditions other than NM, the originals may be cheaper, but still, some cool 45's to check out, if you love that early rock sound! 8) :D
Oh and if you dig Gene, this CD comp is a must!

Oh, and one more for you! Dig it, baby!! One of my favorites from Gene!! =D>

Re: Donna Ludwig 45 RPM Record
I only have two Eddie Cochron 45's, sadly!! I have 20 Flight Rock, with Come on, Everybody, as the A- side, and 20 Flight Rock with Somethin' Else as the A- side.
By Gene, I have, and let's see if I can spell this right....' Be-Bop-A Lula.
And, by my darling Ritchie, I have: That's My Little Suzie/ Bluebirds Over the Mountion, La Bamba/ In A Turckish Town, and Donna/ La Bamba, and that one, needs a real hard cleaning as I can't play it as it sounds too bad! It's playable, but I don't play it. I got that last one from off of Thursday's I might add.

We`ll never know haw far RV`s career would have gotten had he lived.I have a copy of Donna/La Bamba but I was ignorant of the other songs named.
Someone mentioned the Three Stars cover by Ruby Wright.I have that 45 but I`ve never seen the Tommy Dee version.I believe it didn`t chart in UK.

Re: Donna Ludwig 45 RPM Record
I found the Tommy Dee at one of the local flea markets and bought it out of curiosity...I have a few Ritchie Valens records, too, as well as Gene and Eddie...At my local outdoor antique market, there were a couple of Eddie Cochran LP's priced at $20 apiece, but I didn't get them...I wanted to see if there were any better deals first, but if they're still there at the next one in September (This particular vendor comes all the time), I might pop on them... :-k

Re: Donna Ludwig 45 RPM Record
I think one of them was this one...They were both some form of "Greatest Hits" albums...Liberty issued a bunch of different compilations of Eddie's recordings in the 80's!
https://www.discogs.com/Eddie-Cochran-T ... ter/609076
This would also be a great compilation on LP, put out a couple years back...
https://www.discogs.com/Eddie-Cochran-C ... e/12904139
The b-side of the Tommy Dee record is "I'll Never Change"...
Hope that helps! :D
