Wierd inside

Post by Keesie25 » 27 Sep 2018 11:21

I just placed a picture of the singles I recieved today in the right thread.
One of them, Tracey Ullman, has a print on both sides of the INSIDE! Why was that done, was it some sort of commerical, mistake or recycling maybe?
Any ideas anyone?

I have this record in the same sleeve, but nothing printed inside…(unfortunately for the rarity/value of it…)
Yours features a completely different record ("Born to be alive" by Patrick Hernandez), which was a big disco hit in November '78, while Tracey Ullman's was released in '83...
Recycling??? Very strange indeed!
Cheers,

Hugh.

Thanks Hugh. I examined the sleeve I have, but it was not something somenone printed on later, and I cannot see it was cut open and re-glued again, so it seems a factory sleeve to me. Note the inside reads 'super single 20 minutes non-stop disco mix'. I cannot imagine a 7" single being that long.......

Very strange indeed!
Maybe this sleeve will reach a very high price at a collector's auction!
And there is no use to frame it: you wouldn't see the oddity….
You can still dance the Disco!
Strange enough, I'm listening to an old tape of mine right now and it plays…"Born to be alive"!
Cheers,

Hugh.

Interesting to note that there are two people who play a big part in Born To Be Alive.......The Born To Be Alive hook is Chris Simpson from Magna Carta and the enthusiastic backing vocal is George Norris also from Magna Carta! :D

Don't tell me Chris Simpson had an affair with Tracey Ullman........

The only single I have which has printing on the inside is Elvis Costello's "Accidents will Happen". Printed on the inside, blank on the outside. I suspect it was deliberately manufactured incorrectly as a play on the single's title.

I’ve got a Russian copy of Rubber Soul what was made just when Russia was opening up to the rest of the world and the inside of the sleeve was printed on an old Russian map.

A mate of mine who was a pilot took the co-ordinates that were visible and looked them up and it turned out to be an old Russian map of a Japanese harbour area.

This photo here isn’t mine as it’s a pain to try and hold open to take a photo of , but you can just about see the map inside....
