Yo JaS:

Just LOOOVE those Dynaudios! SMOOOOOOOTH! And fairly efficient! The 17W75's are nice, but don't have that same low end.

And good luck from that old smoothie,

Joe Z.

Smooth indeed. I was a little worried they were too polite when I first heard mine, but they quickly won me over :) As for the bottom end, I can always fill in with my REL Storm, but don't feel the Crusaders need much help in my room.

Regards,
JaS

I recently heard some Zingali Overtures, an Italian floorstander.

They were absolutely incredible! They use a horn design and it has to be said they are expensive but they look and sound gorgeous.

I've got a bit of a silly setup for now, but I consider the sound acceptable

technics SL-B1
JVC RX-558V
Advent loudspeakers (1980)

I would like to get a NAD amp in the future and play with the belt driven technics a bit before I replace it. I'm sure I'll find a single disc CD player someday, or maybe rig up my old playstation

Just check my signature. I use electrostatic mains with transmission line sub woofers.

Unlike many esl's Acoustats will play quite loud. They are rated to produce 110dB at 18' in a 14'x22' room. I have measured +106dB with my old Rat Shack meter at the sweet spot. The maximum my old meter reads is 106dB. It was actually louder because the needle was bouncing hard off the 106dB stop.

JaS I hope I've classified my Vandersteen 3A Sigs correctly. :D I've ticked the Transmission Line box as I understand that at least their tweeter and mid-range drivers are to quote Stereophile, 'transmission-line–loaded'. They are not ported in a conventional sense though to me I would normally describe them as floor-standers for all practical purposes. Sound great though whatever the internals are called.

I'm back with floorstanders again. I don't have any prejudice or preconceptions about either floorstanding speakers or stand mounted speakers, I just happen to love the ones I have now. They're Vienna Acoustics "Strauss" coupled with an REL Britannia 3 subwoofer.
