Newbie wiring questiom

Post by Danbrit » 22 Sep 2019 20:35

Evening all

Finally got around to unboxing my new setup (P1, Spektor 2 speakers and pm5005 amp) however am baffled by how to connect the speakers!

It may be the fact I have been flat out house moving for the last 3 days however the cables were not what I was expecting! (see pic)

Any help would be greatly received!

Thanks in advance

I don't understand the confusion - plug the wires into the quick connect terminals on the back of the speakers and, assuming the other end of the wires are the same, then plug the other end into the speaker terminals on the back of the amp.

...or am I not understanding the issue?

I may have to have another look when I'm not so tired!
Had a Google and have bfa connectors, however these are far bigger to my tired eyes than that on the speakers and/or amp!

Purchased from doug Brady as a starter kit so will give them a tinkle tomorrow if it doesn't make sense in the morning!

Those don't look like the right type of connectors. They should have given you plain, ordinary wire, which is what your equipment requires, and what your instruction manuals show.

Actually, those look like a style of banana plug that should plug right into the 5-way connectors on the speakers and the amp.

That style of Banana Plug should fit most of the typical "5-Way Binding Posts" that are on speakers and amplifiers. A Linn amp I have in bedroom will only accept that type of hollow Banana Plug.

Are they supposed to squash in? Didn't want to force of course as the hollow plug is bigger than the hole!

If they require enough force for you to question them being the right ones - I'd guess they're not the right ones. There's nothing special needed, just get some decent speaker wire and make the connection that way and be done with it.

Did you call your dealer as you said you would?
