Question about receivers and integrated amps.

Post by Dadrepus » 06 Jun 2019 20:26

Got an itch to add to the collection. I'm a luxman nut and noticed a couple of integrated amps and some receivers that have pre out and main in jacks with no U in them. Sellers are claiming the products work great but without the U how can they hear if it works? I'm calling BS but I am really no expert. AMIRITE?

Sometimes there is a switch to serve the same purpose but you would have to check the specs on the specific model. You can get generic jumpers for a reasonable price online if needed.

...and/or the Main-In/Pre-Out functionality is only activated when a plug is inserted. BUT if you find a unit that doesn't seem to be working and is missing jumpers, adding a pair would be a good place to start for troubleshooting. Those jumpers often come up missing in a repair shop or thrift store...people like to 'borrow' them

If necessary, you can make jumpers. They are just short RCA/RCA interconnects.

Cheers,
Alec

Not necessary, just got my Luxman rx102. Probably paid too much at $150 shipped but you know when you get the bug. Anyway, no jumpers but it works fine without it. Going to check on the suck face this week. Currently, it is permanently in the back position so everything is accessible. Much different to my older Luxman but I like it and it sounds nice as well.
