JA Michell Transcriptor Hydraulic Fluid Arm Mounting?

Post by tlc630 » 29 Jul 2018 15:26

Further along in this restoration project - The arm board for the Fluid tone arm is attached to the base with 4 double sticky foam pucks. After 43 years the foam has deteriorated; one has nearly collapsed giving the tonearm a nice list. Anyone have any suggestions on improving the mounting method?
TIA

Another thing that happened to me years ago.
Just used rubber feet of suitable height and width and glued into place.
Might want to explore the idea of something more rigid now though as there is really no need for anything 'lossy' as mountings as the bearing and drive are perfectly quiet.

Thanks! I found some medium thick foam weatherstripping tape at the hardware store. Already has adhesive on one side. The only problem is it is a tab too high so I'm going to clamp it down and see if I can compress it.
