Gyrodec/Gyropower speed issues

Post by stians » 24 Apr 2018 08:54

Hello forum
I have a Michell Gyrodec with speed issues. It's a AC motor and Gyropower power unit setup. Bearing is oiled up and fine and the belts are brand new. It takes 3 to 5 minutes to reach speed, and even more to maintain constant speed. There are now and then sudden dips in speed and it's really frustrating. With the new belts (2) it struggles to start the platter at all. I have removed one of them to reach speed at all.

My question is if there are known and fixable capasitor issues or other with the QC or motor - before spending a lot for the DC upgrade?

maybe it's the new belts; clean and try the old ones again

Hmm, maybe, but I am not sure whether this is the problem or not. I'll try for sure, but I suspect the motor or the QC to be my problem. BTW -The new belts have way more tension than the old ones. With both belts, the platter needs help starting. The motor spindle is not moving either.

Why consider DC?

The AC motor is virtually indestructable and can be serviced and cleaned.

The QC is a fairly simple electronic circuit that can be debugged and repaired, if necessary.

You may want to contact Michell and Trichord.
