Alignment Protractors

Post by Lahnet » 20 Feb 2019 11:12

I have a Systemdek IIX with a Helios Scorpio I tonearm.

I can find an Alignment Protractor here : https://www.vinylengine.com/cartridge-a ... tors.shtml but for
Helius Aureus tonearm.

Can I use it and get the correct result for Scorpio?

Thanks

Possibly, but I don't have the specs of the Scorpio to say for certain.

However, the Orion and Scorpio are very close to Baerwald null points (66/121mm) so they probably used the same geometry on other arms. Any 2-point universal protractor with those null points should work. As long as you can align to both points you'll get good results.

Thank you.

I think i already have good results using Baerwald. I just like the idea of having a dedicated protractor for Helios Scorpio.

Conrad Hoffman has a nifty program to calculate and print a custom arc protractor for any arm, based on the specific spindle-to-pivot mounting distance. viewtopic.php?f=19&t=16849
