Setting up a new cartridge

Another foray into the unknown...

I have just bought a new cartridge for my Systemdek iix (it’s a Nagaoka MP110) and I intend to fit it this weekend. I’ve never done this before so I have spent some time on the internet and have found some good beginners guides. Other than an force gauge, I have no specialist tools or test records so I will rely on basic skills and some of the printable resources available from this fine website.

My question is, are there any hints and tips specific to the Systemdek iix that I should be aware of or should I just launch into it?!

Hopefully the attached photo will help guide any advice that you may be able to proffer.

Thanks in advance

Pete

I can offer a few pointers:
1. Which ever protractor you select ensure it is printed to proper scale(there should be a scale to measure on the printed paper).
2. Take great care in punching or cutting out the spindle hole to ensure greatest accuracy.
C. Ensure stylus guard is in place until you are ready for the actual alignment of cart to protractor.

A digital VTF scale is very handy to have. I set VTF to the high end of recommended.
Lastly be as accurate as you can but try not to overly obsess over every detail. Reading alignment threads here can be amusing; some agonize endlessly over even the slightest of measurements, using NASA grade measurement tools and every conceivable adjustment known to mankind and will still complain that they get siblance with a song like Bennie and the Jets.

You'll need to remove the tonearm otherwise, when you tighten the cartridge bolts you'll damage the arm bearings.
