Pioneer Pl-115D low/ no sound on left channel

Post by Voxbo » 01 Oct 2019 18:59

Hi, I've been getting sound intermittently on the left channel over the past couple of weeks. Last night I decided to investigate the source of the issue and I opened it up. After I sprayed Deoxit on the soldered points on the unit near the leaf switch where the output cord is connected (attached pic) I got sound on both channels!! Exciting :)

The sound on the left channel dropped after about 15 minutes. I believe there's an issue with the solder and the deoxit just helped fix it for a few minutes. Is it possible to use a digital multimeter to figure out which of the points are faulty? Any Youtube videos or links on how I should go about investigating it?

Thanks for your help

Deoxit is not meant for solder joints. Why not use a soldering iron and touch up those solder joints?

Thanks! I haven't touched a soldering iron since high school. I'll try it out. The PO seems to have done some work on it, I'm not sure exactly what. Do you mind taking a look at a pic. of the board? I'll upload it once I get home this evening.

Sure. We'll look at the board. Deoxit is meant for moving parts.
