Pioneer PL-51 from 1974

Post by riveroaks2009 » 17 Mar 2012 13:09

I am in search of an appropriate strobe light to fine tune my PL-51 turntable's speed. I can tune it fairly close by "ear" but would like to try the strobe method. Does anyone know where to find such a light? Thanks

An LED night light from a dollar store works well. If you don't have a strobe pattern, there are some under "Tools" at the top.

I know this is an old thread but is it safe to say I need a light that flashes 60 times per second?

Yes.
Cheap LED strips might be a good bet. If you see a broken line when you sweep your eyes past, it should be good.

Neon, leds they must be operated from a 120VAC line and if your in the US will blink at 60Hz. With leds you need to be sure that they are not on DC.
Florescent bulbs also blink at line frequency as well. Not sure about the new style electronic ballast though.
