This would be kinda cool, too, if you had some of these crates, and needed some space for the LP's...

I'm buckling now...Has anyone seen anything like this? It's the kind of thing that makes me weak in the knees...

Please someone tell me they've built something similar, or there are plans for something like this...It will hold 5,000 45's, which is amazing by the way! What an incredible thing! Sadly, it's probably one-of-a-kind...But, WOW!

Interesting stuff there VM, thanks for posting!

I'm looking at getting a couple of the old IKEA 'Expedit' racks (or whatever they're called these days!), most likely 2 of the 2x2 racks one on top of the other would be good.

That would sort out my LP's nicely, and I don't have any singles to worry about!

I wish they had something like that for the singles, too...Gothic Furniture makes something similar to that type of shelf for the LP's...

I just got similar shelving made by a furniture maker, with sections for records, DVDs (and the same shelf is right for 7" singles, and CDs.

Mine are like this:

15938

Except less space left now.

Who made those? Was it a custom job? They're very nice! =D> And from the pictures, it doesn't look like you've used up ALL the shelves yet...It looks like there's still more room for records and whatnot...

Yep, custom job to fit into the gap beside the fireplace. Local furniture maker made them and surprisingly not too expensive. Made from real wood and not chipboard too. Just went there with measurements. Fair bit less space left now but still some way to go before they are full. We have high ceilings so have also had a few cupboards made which are over 3 metres high (probably about 10 feet high).

The same people made us bookshelves which are 3 metres high and 4.5 metres wide, and full of books 2 deep. We have a lot of books too!

Well worth seeing if you can get shelves made to size for your house. It is a great solution.

My storage racks LP did not have vertical partitions. Because of this, LP were falling on its side and could be damaged. Give them a strictly vertical position holders helped folders and magazines. Now record's easy to get and they are not damaged.

That is really smart, operator71!! =D> Where did you get the magazine holders? Very good way of keeping them vertical...This reminds me...Has anyone seen any wire dividers or rods that could be used in conjunction with the Expedit to keep one's albums even MORE vertical?

Something like they used on the old Per Madsen racks?

Typically, these holders can be purchased at specialty stores. In the same place and other products for office work - paper for printers, folders, paper clips, pens, pencils, etc.

Maybe you should look for something similar. This bookends and they are different

These racks are something of a mobile/storage solution for bringing specific albums from my larger collection, currently in storage due to lack of space. The metal racks are fitted with rubber footings so they don't scratch the wood floors! Six bucks at Walmart! :D
