Audacity Not Ready for Catalina

Post by fscl » 09 Nov 2019 19:48

Just a warning, as of this post, Audacity is not compatible with the latest Mac OS, Catalina. #-o

I have not gotten this to work under the "Terminal" either / yet.

Any help appreciated. [-o<

I did restore from backup after found out its new features. Many apps I use all the time do not work. As far as I know there is nothing special about this new OS X to justify the trouble.
Sad thing is that sooner or later we need to upgrade and will not be able to use some great apps that no longer is developed. Luckily I have many Macbook Pros of various vintage and am able to keep using these apps on them.

I remember a mail from Rogue Amoeba, a few weeks ago, warning that some of their products wouldn't work under Catalina because all plug-ins now require the blessing of Apple in order to work.

I've been successfully using the terminal to start Audacity as per instructions from the Audacity forum on a 2013 MacBook Pro with USB input. What's not working? Does Audacity start, or does it fail to see incoming signal?

I came across the "Terminal" workaround

https://www.audacityteam.org/macos-10-1 ... -audacity/

Entering both command lines does not initiate Audacity, I am entering command lines after this "Freds-Mac-mini:~ fscl$"

Please let me know what I'm missing / doing wrong....... [-o<

Wanted to rip some songs off of my Van Morrison, the alternative moondance and found Audacity inoperative / not wanting to open.

TIA

Fred
