Sony TC-152SD - 1973 https://www.cassettedeck.org/Sony/tc-152sd
Technics RS-M240X - 1981 https://www.cassettedeck.org/technics/rs-m240x
Yamaha K-2000 - 1985 https://www.cassettedeck.org/yamaha/k-2000

All dead now, no repair parts available.

Currently working cassette machine is a Marantz PMD430 https://www.cassettedeck.org/marantz/pmd430
Not the equal of the old Yamaha, but good enough for my needs today.

Never been that taken with the 1000ZXL, until I saw your photo. Trying to resist the urge to start wanting one. :)
 I wish you good luck, for the prices they go for these days I would not want one...
But never make the mistake you can buy one that can be restored by your self, not unless you're an educated and graduated professor in physics and electronics...

I've two great sounding 3-head decks:

Nakamichi 582- the reference deck from back in the days, this is the deck that the hifi magazines used when they tested cassette tapes.

Pioneer CT-959- very closely related to the top model CT-93 (minus Dolby S and Auto BLE), I got it new way back in -91 and remember I chose it over the CT-91 since the CT-959 sounded better. The CT-959 is built like a tank- take a look at this link:

Amazing build quality!

I've had many...

Some memorable ones were the Denon's of the mid-late 1980s.

I still have: -

Sony TC-K590 - 3 head deck
Nakamichi BX 300E - 3 head deck
Nakamichi ZX-7 - 3 head deck - lovely machine, sounds awesome with a good metal tape!

You're not wrong! One just went on eBay for 3.5k Euros. Out of my league.

Mind you, my restored ZX-7 is not bad at all. 8)

I have a BIC T3M, Luxman K-08 and Luxman K-118. All work well, had belts replaced. Don't really need 3 decks. Which ones should I sell?

Just bought some used Metal tapes on Ebay for $5/each. My god, they sound amazing.

So, I ended up selling the BiC T3M, picked up a Luxman kx-101 to match my rx102 px100 and a luxman K-111 which sits atop of my Integra surround sound in the family room. The Integra doesn't have any tape inputs so I just use aux to play tapes-no record. I have a Sony up for sale on Ebay -Sony Cassette Deck TC-WR635S. After belt and wheel changes it plays and records great. Has Dolby S. I should probably keep it by I have an unexplainable love for Luxman.
