I'm waiting until Sunday when I can collect a 'new to me' XTZ AP100 D3 Divine integrated amp. This'll be my first foray into solid state for a while.

New and Exciting -

*Pro-Ject Phono Box DS2 USB*

I had 2 problems - one, a 20yr old ADC that really wasn't made for high definition vinyl ripping; two, and inferior phono pre in the living room.

Solution - the above new hardware. The living room gets my Domino phono preamp, and the studio gets the Pro-Ject. Time will tell!

The Little Bear T7 gets to go back in it's box.

Aaww, poor Little Bear!
Not preferable unit? (New to this level of hifi...willing to learn.)

Not the preferable unit. I was attracted to the glow of the tubes. Admittedly, it was OK for a lot of the rock n roll records, but after a while it became evident that it wasn't up to par with jazz and classical.

It was worth the $60 (with "better" tubes) but my ears are asking me for more.

Also Weather Report, Jeff Beck, Dave Brubeck, and Barry Tuckwell!

yea the Pro-Ject Box is doing the job - not an order of magnitude better, but 2 or 3 steps up

1st preamp I had where I could adjust the capacitance loading. The "standard" 220pf resulted in exaggerated highs from the AT150MLX I'm using now. Selecting 100pf on the Pro-Ject really changes the tone - for the better!

Just curious, but does Sade ALWAYS have to be the test record of choice? :-k It is for ME , but I don't know about others...Still, if you're a fan, I do have this thread devoted to her, if you guys have more thoughts...

I had the Pro-Ject Tube Box S when I first started out... surprisingly capable piece of kit for the cost, they do some excellent products.

z, you mentioned Jeff Beck. I usually go to his Live+ LP. Loaded, Morning Dew, A Change Is Gonna Come... great dynamic!. Also, Dire Straits' On Every Street, When It Comes To You...the drums...the rhythm in general... good stuff. Stuff that fills yer head. Great test for gear.

Just received 3 x IsoAcoustics OREA Bronze isolation "feet".

These 3 are initially for the record deck, if they make such an improvement as all the reviewers claim, then I'll adopt them throughout my system. They are incredibly well built, really high quality!
