Most expensive audio cables

Post by lenjack » 01 Jan 2020 23:13

Just for fun, I decided to look for companies selling the highest priced audio interconnects and speaker cables, available in about the last year. These companies appear to be:

Kimber...6 foot headphone cables $4,900
Wireworldcable.com...3 meter/pair speaker cable $29,000
Masterbuildaudio.com...3 meter/SINGLE speaker cable $35,000
Siltech.com...Several types of cables...I recall they make speaker cables at $40,000 a pair.

Checkout the websites for amusement, and please look for others. I'm sure you'll find some.

Hummm... Perhaps this post belongs in the snake oil thread... Good grief, 40 k for a pair of speaker cables... My beloved wife would hang me with one of the two, and use the other to hang the seller...

At the Toronto audio show a couple of years ago, there was a lottery-grade system with D'Agostino amps and Wilson speakers. The Nordost wiring loom cost $150,000.

I forgot about Nordost.

...and of course, you need to have special supports to keep these cables off the floor.

I'm the last person to call snake oil for anything. However, a pair of speaker cables that cost more than a really good amplifier doesn't make any sense to me.

My fave vinyl record cartoon: "I like vinyl records because of the high cost and inconvenience..."

Every 2 to 3 years, I reread all issues of Stereo Review. One of the prime reasons, is the Rodriguez cartoons. There is a collection of them called "Total Harmonic Distortion", long out of print, which occasionally shows up on Amazon or Ebay for $150 to $200.

I am thinking that systems that use these cables go way up into seven figures.
