My record cabinet! Watch as it gets made!

Post by truedeth » 25 Jun 2019 05:21

I bought myself a nice receiver and turntable but have nowhere to put them! So I decided to build a cabinet to store vinyl and my equipment. I know I've posted about this before, this time it's all going to be in this one spot so you all can see the progress as I build it!

The first thing I needed was wood so I bought some 24x48 inch sheets of plywood at the hardware store.
I then marked out what I measured initially and tried to see what setup I wanted.

Turns out I needed to bump those measurements out a few inches so I had to make new lines. I sanded them down and cut the longer pieces in half to prepare for the actual cuts. Didn't take any pictures of that. Oh well.

On Saturday, my Dad and I cut the boards into the parts I need, and then I sanded and shaved down the wood until it was nice and uniform. All we need to do is the dado cuts and then rabbit joints and I can start assembly and finishing!!

It's looking good, truedeth! I love to see a project in progress! 8) Oh, and don't forget to detail your plans at the end, should someone else want to build the same cabinet down the line...Good luck, and keep us posted as you finish it! =D>

Thank you! The next step is to get a router bit to do rabbet and dado cuts!
