For my FF Vector V i'm looking to upgrade the tonearm; from the Rega 250 installed at the origin with a new one that i can "consider definitive".
First choice the FX-3 , but FF don't reply to my emails, so anyone uses other tonearm in his Vector? Audiomods V or The Wand Plus could works well on the Vector? Rega RB 2000?
Thanks!

Last year Funk turned my RB300 into an FX-R, which replaced an SME series IV on my Vectored PT TOO. Since you have a Rega this should be a cost-effective upgrade.

I have no idea why Arthur isn't replying to your e-mails - he has always returned mine promptly.

Hi, Arthur told me he was having some problems with email over the past few weeks, so I checked with him last night, and he was not aware of your enquiry. He asked me to pass on his current (temporary?) email address to you, so I have PMed you with it.

cheers,

Tim

P.S. I am not sure why, but Funk cannot upgrade RB250/RB202 to FXR, only the RB300/303 upwards.

Hi Alex and Tim, thanks for the information. Arthur told me 2 weeks ago that cannot upgrade the RB250, but after i "lost" the contact...now i'm trying with the other email suggested by Tim...

cheers,
Daniele

Ah, OK - I didn't know that.

The differences that I am aware of between the 250 and 300 are: (a) the lack of spring downforce in the 250 (which some opined to be an advantage); (b) the plastic end stub in the 250; and (c) the much lighter counterweight than the tungsten one that came as standard for a while on the 300. The first two, at least, might make Arthur unwilling (if not actually unable) to use the 250 as a base for the upgrade.

I have just received and fitted a rewired RB 300 from Audio Origami (more on that later) and have also noted that the RB300 has a steel (stainless?) arm pillar, whilst the RB250 has a brass one. Later RB2xx have plastic I believe.

Has anyone tried a Clearaudio Universal arm on a Funk Firm Vector V?

It was great to see Arthur last week at the Bristol show. He had two LSD turntables, one with an SME V and the other with an FX3. I am always a little sceptical about such A-B demos but I have to say that the difference was not subtle. The FX3 sounded more open, dynamic and musical.
