There are a few from this site with collections that would qualify, not to mention any names!

That occured to me.

One fellow I deal with on Discogs claims to have over 20,000 albums.

I estimate having maybe 400 to 450.

I own a handful of 45's and zero 78's.

I wonder who THEY would be, Tink... :-k

Actually, there are lots of people who have insane collections...You can read all about them here!

Now, none of them are as insane as Zero Freitas...

If you are a vinyl nut of any stripe, you have heard of the man, or should know of him! Read on...

viewtopic.php?f=41&t=70175

Now, he got much of the collection of Paul Mawhinney, the previous "record" holder...

viewtopic.php?f=50&t=26162

Of course, when it comes to 78's, we have to mention Joe Bussard...

Here's a great little film about him...

Now, Ed Motta has a large collection...

33746
33745

He tells more about the 30,000+ LP's he has here...

http://thevinylfactory.com/vinyl-factor ... -ed-motta/

So, does Questlove of The Roots...

Now, compared to those guys, my collection is still meager...Of course, my vinyl mentor has quite a few 45's...5,000+ and probably much more in the last 15 years! Here are some pics of his record room that he sent me last year...

33805
33814

I mentioned him on Page 6 here...

Of course, if you really want to see some insane collectors and collections, please watch this film...

If it blows your mind and freaks you out, though, do NOT say that I didn't warn you!! [-X

Now we are talking! Those are some serious collectors.

My wife would call me a hoarder if I had anything like that. How many turntables do you need? Why is this equipment filling the closet? You don't need anymore speakers.

We already have that record!

LOL.

Reminds me of the old joke with the little old lady who comes to see her doctor:

"My family want to put me in the madhouse!"

"Why would they? You seem perfectly reasonable to me."

"It's only because I love making pancakes."

"Now, that I really can't understand. I love them too."

"Oh, do you? You must come along, one day. I have a whole room full of them."

After watching the Zweig film
Great! Now I'm just depressed...
He made everyone he interviewed seem sad hopeless and pathetic. Whereas I think probably that can really only be said of him. Yet now 'I' feel sad hopeless and pathetic, and I'm never depressed! Gods! I'm glad I don't have to know him personally.

I've warned people in the past...That film will do that to you! But you don't necessarily have to be depressed about it! Some of the greatest collectors are the happiest people in the world! :D

As collector Gladys Palmera says, "You are what you love!" =D>

And she DEFINITELY loves her vinyl! :D

The Zweig film is indeed depressing. I don’t recommend watching it if you haven’t already. I regret doing so.

Now, here's a guy you might want to meet...Michael Fremer has been championing him and he's only 12 years old! :D

Ladies and gentlemen, meet Malachi Liu!

While not the greatest record collector out there, his example goes to show that this hobby knows no age barrier! AND he's JUST GETTING STARTED!! Reminds me of myself when I was younger!

Fremer is a (mostly) funny guy. Glad to see him raising this kid up.

I don't know why this is but haven't you noticed that most women just don't seem to comprehend the largely male obsession with all things Hi-Fi, records, turntables, amps, preamps, speakers, speaker wire, cables, various DAC's and on and on. I truly wonder why this is. Is it biological in some way, is it sociological conditioning? Somehow my female friends conversation about preoccupation with recipes for vegan bread spread have no more room in my realm of fixation than my preoccupation with knowing which version of HDMI cable transmits various data/digital signals have in theirs. I really want to tell her about how excited I am with the possible acquisition of a new DAC for my CD's but it always just falls flat when I say it. Sometimes I just can't contain myself and I blurt out the latest about some sound system thing or other thinking this time she'll somehow be excited too. But this is always met by "hmmm, well anyway, I got this new recipe for Sangrea from that little resteraunt I like to go to....." What is the fixation with recipes anyway? I guess this is just as baffling to me as my completely illogical obsession with records and stereo/multichannel equipment is to her. I wonder why?

I don't know...Maybe you just haven't met the right woman yet...Some get it, but they are a rarity...What we need are more Rachaels in the world...

Not a huge collection, but she has a passion for her favorite music on vinyl and this hobby could use a lot more of that! :D
