Barenaked Ladies Stunt

Post by tscates » 27 Jan 2016 11:36

Has anyone heard this one on vinyl? I saw this morning it's out but I'm hesitant to buy it thinking it's probably just been copied off a CD (or whatever master was used for the CD), especially given the time frame of the original release. Can't find any reviews of the vinyl...

I think I just answered part of my question. Looks like it's by "Music On Vinyl". I found here: https://www.reddit.com/r/vinyl/comments ... out_vinyl/ that supposedly someone from the above forum e-mailed MOV and asked what the source was and was informed that the "source is a high-res audio file (192KHZ/24bit) of the original master".

So...I guess that leaves me thinking if it's worth it or not...

Just listened to the vinyl version of stunt. They have done a great job transferring this to vinyl, to me it sounds a little better than the CD. The instruments have more room and the background sounds are more pronounced. My turntable is better than my CD player so that could be making the difference.

I just love the way vinyl sounds over CD and I like to collect. I just wish they would release their first three albums on vinyl.

I ordered it as well. I like the sound of the vinyl over the CD as well, although I must say that out of all my A/B comparisons these sounded the most alike. Hard to say how much is my setup vs how much is my turntable (my CD player being better).

To my ear well produced Vinyl sounds better than CD or FLAC every time. I've just bought Blackstar By David Bowie on vinyl after listening to it on FLAC for the last month. The Vinyl blows the FLAC clean out of the water.

Glad you're enjoying the Stunt Vinyl.

Can those of you who have a copy of this please check something for me... can you tell me if the track Who Needs Sleep has a different opening to that of the CD album version? The recent 2 LP reissue of this album sounds the same as the CD version so I can only assume that they have been given a different master for the 1 LP pressing.

Makes me wonder how the new vinyl compares to my original 90's 45's of "Call And Answer" and "One Week"? :-k

Just for the "record", I see THIS is out now, too, on vinyl, released back in October...

I might just have to buy the new vinyl for myself, if all rates well here...
