Thanks! Not too dissimilar than today's 'drop D' electric guitar tuning for heavy metal :P

Teleman -Twelve Fantasies For Flute

Perfect for a cool and raining early Sept morning here in NY State.

Unlike Simon Cowell.... I like the flute. :)

I enjoy all of the Previn in my collection...particularly his work on the Rollerball (1975) Soundtrack LP.

Truly amazing that Albinoni could write that beautiful leitmotif for Johnathon's wife hundreds of years ago!

Previn did well with the soundtrack of that movie!

Love that piece and this performance. I have only heard the cd reissue but still have not found a good lp copy.

Just got back from two weeks in Holland. Travelled to a number of cities but Rotterdam was our base. Did a tonne of record shopping there as the city has a great record store scene. Got a nice haul of classical lps and cds, mostly Mozart.

I also got 3 more lps from the DG "Debut" series. These were early 1970s lps of new classical artists. I have 3 others in this great series. A few became famous but most were just great young artists playing interesting repertoire.

Will be cleaning and working through them in the coming weeks. I have not heard records in two weeks so started with two of my recent Haydn lps.

This is a great 3 LP box set. All LPs are NM.
Like today, sometimes earlier works is just as good, if not better, than some latter work.

I played 2 LPs tonight and will play the third LP tomorrow. :)

Got through cleaning and listening to 5 out of my 10 new lps from Rotterdam.

BASF lp of Mozart's symphonies 31 and 35 were decent. Hamburger Symphony led by Han Schmidt Isserstedt.

Eterna pressing of various Handel woodwind pieces were typical of this label; well played with good sound and German only notes. None of the artists are well known.

DG Resonance German pressing of the Mozart Piano Concertos number 20 and 24 sounded better than the digital reissue I already own.

French Musicdisc pressing of various Handel pieces for Flute, harp and harpsichord. Excellent sound and performances by unknown artists.

Finally, an Erato 1984 catalogue pressing of Mozart K299 Flute and Harp Concerto with the K622 Clarinet Concerto. Great music and sound but the record itself is a bit noisy.

Got through my 3 new Mozart cds as well. All decent including highlights disc from the 1991 Philip Mozart Collection (I own the more recent 225 full boxed set that came out in 2016).

Love those Denons. Which Philips 9th is that one peaking in from behind?

bannerjba, I bought a mint copy of Rachmaninov on Discogs, with the outer sleeve looking original.

It's a Polygram distributed Philips from 1980. Another prized and great sounding LP 6539006 catalogue number

Ha thats funE.
Incidentally I can't hear the exhibition and not smile and remember my old CED Selectavision player and library of movie discs. The classic discs started with an excerpt and the RCA logo :)
