Handel - Water Music

This is a great performance (on period instruments), and a great recording & 1984 pressing from "MHS". :)

Final Beethoven album for now. After this, it's back to Vivaldi.

This features a relatively young Christine Walevska.
However, I have no idea when it was recorded or pressed .
Al I know is, it's on the "Philips" label and pressed in the Netherlands.

Does anybody have any info in it?

Redoing the previous Beethoven albums with my Stanton 681EEE and stereohedron II stylus. No images needed. Another turntable and cartridge will be coming, and when they do, I am starting from the beginning once things are set up right.

That looked like an interesting album. :)
I have a a particular penchant for classical compositions for just a few instruments, a chamber orchestra, etc as opposed to a full symphony orchestra .
Just a flute and guitar is an interesting combo.

So, I found that album on You Tube and really liked it.

As luck would have it, I also found that exact LP on e-Bay in great shape for a great price.
So, I just purchased it. :)

Cool, I hope you enjoy it! I bought that with my wife in mind since she likes the flute. It is a rare duet for sure with flute and guitar. That recording is, as you would imagine, very intimate and up-close...especially the flute. I find it quite raw and genuine, not polished or processed. I get the sense there are challenges to recording a single flute like that, and of course you need a very steady speed on playback, but I'm sure you've got that covered :)

I have no idea when or where I got this LP but. it had to be since i got back into vinyl a few years ago.
I forgot that I had and do not even remember ever playing it, even once. I just just rediscovered it while thumbing through my classical LPs.

Anyway, it's arguably two of Brahms' best compositions ....
Symphony No 2 and Academic Festival Overture :)

I was listening to No. 2 this week. I definitely like the idea that it was written to compliment his No. 1 Symphony. Very lovely.
I remember my dad singing "the Brahms Lullaby" to me every night before sleep as a young child, so it has a lot of emotional resonance for me anyway.
Regards from Bill.

This is a great performance, recording, mastering, etc of one of Vivaldi's more famous compositions.

Glad you like it, JDJX =D> It was a random purchase for me, but turned-out to be a good one. I think the Odyssey label has put out some good stuff over the years.
