Listening to Albinoni's Twelve Sonatas Opus 7. I Solisti Veneti conducted by Claudio Scimone once again. Same ensemble and conductor for the next two albums.

My all-time favorite Albinoni album (out of music he actually wrote), hands down.

Solti's Parsifal, Of course I mean Wagner's Parsifal conducted by Solti. I think Solti's versions of things are virtually the benchmarks for what a thing 'should be'. All others are variations on that. I love Berenboims subtle beauty. I'm not saying other conductors work is derivitive of Solti, it's just that Solti is a kind of flat EQ reference point for anything else, in my mind.
The recording I'm listening to says it's "Remastered from original tapes using 96 kHz 24bit Super Digital Transfer. " I feel that I can hear slight imperfections in the Ferus oxide on the original tape, but that may be fantacy. It sounds jolly good anyway. I also have Kubelik's version of Parsifal on 'Arts Archives' label, this is highly touted my many as their favorite Parsifal. I have only curseraly listened to it since i got it, so I don't know, but at some point I want to compare it to Solti which I'm pretty familiar with. If price is any measure the Kubelik was pretty expensive, I had to wait quite a while before I was able to afford it. For today though I wanted to hear and relax into an old favorite and familiar Parsifal so I chose Solti. Parsifal is my favorite Wagner opera. Though I like them all when I'm in a Wagner mood. I'm pretty partial to Lohengrin too. Anyway back to Parsifal I've got to go switch CD disks. Can you imagine playing a Wagner opera on vinyl LP's ! You'd probably have huge quadraseps by the time you finished jumping up and down to flip all of those disks. When it comes to classical I feel thank gods for CD's.

I have some box sets that are setup for changers, and suspect a lot of the golden age Wagner would have been two, so stack a few and off you go. Quick Google suggests a full Parsifal is 10LPs though!

Vivaldi is next.

Holding off on the second record until tomorrow after work. Made a mistake of fully listening to Side 3 without the anti-skate set after adjusting the tonearm height and tracking force, and noticed when I put on Side 4 thus I cancelled the playback. No big deal as long as it doesn't happen again. The anti-skate has now been set where it belongs.

I admire your ability to stick with one composer at a time. I keep meaning to go through my 15 volume complete beethoven set, but somehow never manage.

Continuing from where I left off last night with this double album.

Yeh, I've got a few early '60s Wagner sets like that, mainly Decca/RCA... don't think EMI, DG or Phillips ever bothered with the idea, though I'm willing to be corrected. A full "Parsifal" is 10 sides, though - 5 LPs. When CDs came in I was finding myself about to automatically rise from my seat anyway where the old LP side changes used to be!
These days I'm back to preferring vinyl, even for Wagner, and getting up every 20 - 25 minutes doesn't bother me. Much preferable to trying to listen to Act 1 of "Die Walkure" at the Proms last week while the young lady next to me checked her mobile phone every 5 minutes! [-X

Haydn String Quartets (1&2)......performed by "The Guarneri Quartet"

This is some of Haydn's finest compositions.... and "The Guarneri Quartet" never failed to impress. :)
