Back on Page 12, I mentioned these guys...Well, my favorite "new" young funk-and-soul band, Lawrence, has a new album out called "Living Room"...
WOW ! Really, really liked that. Need to listen to more of their music.

During the video, I was thinking this is the White Stripes of the (funk and) soul world. =D> Then, on Discogs, I find out this is a siblings' group. Funky. But I wondered if they are siblings in the way of Meg and Jack...

Still don't get that story.

Oh yes...Not so White-Stripey, but the siblings have always had that chemistry and just for you, VinyldechezPierre, I'm just the man to spread the Lawrence legend and lore to the unacquainted masses...

Can you believe this is them at a very young age singing an original?

Here's their latest single from a month ago...Very hot, indeed!

There's always been a laidback sort of humor and vibe to their music, too...The mix of Gracie's and Clyde's sensibilities on different songs just makes the whole thing work and don't get me started on the horn section! 8) =D>

If you care to hear more about them, check out these...

By the way, a bit of trivia...Their father Marc Lawrence is the screenwriter of films like "Miss Congeniality" and "Music And Lyrics", among others and Clyde worked on some of the music for those films...

Oh, and it was Lawrence who turned me onto this guy...I'm sensing a Stevie Wonder vibe here, but a new thing at the same time...

And speaking of Stevie, the man himself even had a duet of sorts with P.J....

Not as psychotic as Southern Culture On The Skids, but very nice rockabilly type music nonetheless. Another sibblings group The first video is an interesting introduction to the band and their parents (sorry about the german; it does speak english later):

Adding a second one just for the drummer's interesting way of playing:

Ok, off to discogs to see about an order.

That one's fascinating, Vinylchezdepierre...Those two girls look totally out of their element, until they start playing! They could give many of those Sun artists a run for their money...Of course, you still can't beat the classics!

As a fan of people like The Stray Cats and Pokey Lafarge, though, I can definitely dig what they're puttin' down! 8)

What do you mean? To me, they look more jazz than rock but out of their element, I don't get.

Anyway, order placed.

Just watched another video of theirs and it turns out they don't like being called rockabilly. True, what I've heard so far is a mix of very different things but they definitely have a rockabilly side: minimal drum kit, upright bass for example.

One thing I forgot: that's the first modern band I encounter that released an album in the 78rpm format. https://www.discogs.com/fr/Kitty-Daisy- ... se/2929545

Not sure what to think of it. It is cool but not sure how many buyers for it...
