TB...if I remember right, Thriller originally came out with a white background cover, yes? I haven't seen that one forever...

Got a great LP of Winelight by Grover Washington Jr., one of my favorites growing-up. New to collecting and playing records. Any must haves for a collection? or just some of your favorites?
If you like Grover, search out the "Soul Box" on Kudu, "Mister Magic" and "Come Morning" next...

If you want to start a basic 70's-80's smooth jazz collection, add these...

1. GEORGE BENSON Breezin'
2. SPYRO GYRA Morning Dance
3. CHUCK MANGIONE Feels So Good
4. RAMSEY LEWIS Sun Goddess
5. SPYRO GYRA Spyro Gyra
6. MICHAEL FRANKS Tiger In The Rain
7. BOB JAMES One
8. BOB JAMES Two
9. HERB ALPERT Rise
10. HERBIE MANN Memphis Underground
11. ANITA BAKER Rapture
12. KENNY G Duotones
13. KENNY G Silhouette
14. NAJEE Najee's Theme
15. DAVID SANBORN Hideaway
16. DAVID SANBORN Straight To The Heart
17. DAVID SANBORN A Change Of Heart
18. ANITA BAKER Giving You The Best That I Got
19. THE CRUSADERS Street Life
20. THE LOVE UNLIMITED ORCHESTRA Rhapsody In White

That ought to keep you busy for awhile!!

I put this on expecting the worst as it had a "Hard to Find Records" sticker on it, but I'm absolutely blown away, wonderful copy, and got me bopping straight away! God, I love nostalgia!

I think you are thinking about “Bad”. But I could be wrong.

I found this but I’m not sure it was an album cover.

Hi, wb...
Wow. That's a whole different cover than I've ever seen...
The cover I remember was exactly as the current stock version (black background) only with a white background.
I need to find the one you show...

Mine is number 890.

Such a beautiful copy. This is a soundtrack they did to a documentary of the same name in 2003. The 2 records are in the covers of the 10" Book cover. The book contains artworks by the band, it's really lovely. Jonsi has actually just set up an exhibition in Hollywood.

Their releases are always a little different, weather it's the corners cut off on the cover, or just incredibly high quality materials, and always really fine pressings. Cost a small fortune new from the label, but I would consider myself a huge fan of their work and have all their albums, it was a must have for me!

This is the original with the sample that Spandau Ballet sued to remove on later versions. This version is a marked improvement imho, and quite rare these days. Totally Mint copy though, very happy indeed!

Discovered another basement room in one of our local "antique" stores absolutely packed with records. When I asked the owner if he had any other records than the few dozen he had on display he looked surprised, as though nobody had asked him in a while and he directed me to a room downstairs.

Fortunately, he had some basic organization of the 3000+ records he has boxed up down there as I only had a few minutes to spare. I was able to find:

- 2 Turnabout recordings from the mid 60s (Hummel and Hoffman, concertos for mandolin and orchestra; Hummel and Haydn piano concertos) and
- a Seraphim recording of Sibelius' Finlandia and other pieces- Sir John Barbirolli and the Halle Orchestra again from the mid 60s.

All seem virtually unplayed, even the sleeves are in very good condition. Just gave them all a good cleaning and all are great. Can't complain for $2 each. Christmas came a day early!

Santa is so reliable, this year he brought:

Vol 1 of Ann Arbour Blues Festival 1969. All sorts of artists: BB King, Fred McDowell, Howlin Wolf. Should be good.
