Gotta admit the Herbie Mann album was bought partly for the cover. :D
I have a lot of Chicago on cd from when I was in school (16, 17, etc.) and some of their earlier stuff. It is those middle years that I am not too familiar with. Filling in the blanks, so to say!

Checked out a new store today, Bob's Collectibles. Has models and such as well. These two filled in some of the holes missing from my collection when I got caught up in the digital revolution, regretfully.

It's a re-issue but you'd never know it. Sound quality is terrific! =D>

Got one on the way, might be arriving today I hope. Anything more than a week without a new record I become a bit peculiar... “shouldn’t be out in public” sort of peculiar.

I just got... a NM copy of....

Robert Hazard - Wing Of Fire

This is Roberts second album, I have his first.

I also have his "Troubadour" CD which is the last thing that he recorded before he died. It's a more matured, mellow Robert.

BTW, Robert was so popular in the Philadelphia area and tri state area (NY,NJ,PA) that he was once offered a lot of money to do a nightly show at an Atlantic City casino. To his credit, he turned it down saying that he did not want to turn into another Wayne Newton.

Anyway, until the day he died, he continued to get royalty checks for "Girls Just Want To have Fun" that he allowed Cyndi Lauper to record first ...with a gender change.

John Coltraine 'Both directions at once- The Lost Album'
I'm getting into Coltraine in a big way, I'm sorry to say. This is going to cost a lot of money as he has what seems like a hundred recordings. And also sorry to say I'm a completist. I'm going to start with the albums that just strike my interest like the 3 I already got'Blue Train' (got it because Coltraine said it was his favorite recording) and Cosmic Music which is experimental to say the least, and Lush Life (because it's his most famous record).. There are many others I want immediately, like Meditations, Stellar Regions, Sun Ship. I just like the potential music which lies behind those titles.
The weird thing is that for years/decades I've absolutely hated Jazz. I mean HATED it. And especially the people who like it. They seem so imperious, thinking Jazz is the "sublime music" and that everything else is for civilians. I was thrilled when i read that John Lennon hated Jazz and especially hated the people who like it. I've just been looked down on too often by Jazz enthusiasts to even think of liking the music. But now it appears I do, as it's all I listen to. And there's such potential for obsession, like getting into Miles Davis, or/and Thelonious Monk. I'm still going strong with my obsession with James Brown. Still want to get more of his albums. Well to cut the tale in 2, That's what I got yesterday-today-and tomorrow.
Take care
indi

Didn't so much buy as was gifted about 150 records from a friend's brother. Kept about 40 of them and sold the rest (proceeds of which will be donated to Dana Farber Cancer Institute - about $130).

It was a weird mix of easy-listening and 80's new wave/alternative.

It all needs to be cleaned of dust and cat hair, but it's all in great condition based on my initial QA survey.

Standouts included early albums by Depeche Mode, "Standing on the Beach" by The Cure, a beautiful first pressing of (IMO) The Smiths' masterpiece, "Hatful of Hollow", and other flotsam and jetsam.

Once again, it pays to tell your friends you're happy to take vinyl off people's hands.

No new vinyl, but did receive a replacement cover for Above & Beyond - We Are All We Need. The original had an extra “yeah” after track C3 “Making Plans” which was corrected after the initial run. Should make the original cover quite rare.

I love these little irregularities with some releases, adds a story to the edition =D>
